On the radar for the Northeast, there’s a noticeable band of rain extending from just off the coast of New York and Philadelphia moving towards the Atlantic Ocean. This system is clearing out the area, offering a break from precipitation. Pittsburgh is under mostly clear skies, while light rain showers are appearing in upstate New York near Syracuse and Albany. Down to the southeast, Scranton, Philadelphia, and Washington are enjoying dry conditions. Portland is also experiencing dry weather with a few clouds lingering offshore, enhancing the overall clear pattern for much of the region.
Tomorrow morning in New York City starts with a cloudy sky and a temperature of 61 degrees at 8 AM with northwest winds at 11 miles per hour. Expect a brief shower around 10 AM as temperatures rise to 65 degrees, with northwest winds continuing at 10 miles per hour. By noon, the sky becomes mostly cloudy with a temperature of 68 degrees and winds shifting slightly to west-northwest at 10 miles per hour.
Tomorro New York City and Washington, D.C. both reach highs of 70 degrees. Philadelphia is set for a high of 69, while Boston will see a comfortable 69 degrees as well. Pittsburgh and Scranton will experience cooler conditions at 61 degrees. Buffalo and Syracuse lag behind, with highs of 55 and 56 degrees, respectively, due to lingering cloud cover.
A strong storm system moves into the Northeast tomorrow bringing widespread rain and gusty winds. Expect concentrated rainfall in areas stretching from Pittsburgh to New York City, which could lead to localized flooding issues due to the expected heavy downpours. The system advances eastward, impacting Philadelphia and up into Boston through the day. Temperatures will remain cool behind the front, providing relief from recent warmth. Stay alert for potential severe storms, especially in the afternoon and evening hours as the frontal boundary sweeps through.
Friday brings a high UV index of 7 to New York City, with a burn time of around 20 minutes under direct sunlight. As you head into Saturday, the UV index rises to 8, shortening the burn time to just 17 minutes.
