Expect partly cloudy skies to keep New York City interesting this afternoon, with dynamic weather affecting regions from Philadelphia to Portland. Albany and Boston anticipate rain, while a low-pressure system threatens severe weather tomorrow. Prepare for a range of temperatures and conditions. Plus, get a peek into the next 7 days in NYC, ensuring you’re well-prepared for each day’s challenges! Today’s weather over the Northeast is quite dynamic. Clear conditions dominate the southern part of the region, with Philadelphia basking under sunny skies. Clouds are quickly moving in over New York City, which could lead to an overcast afternoon. Farther north, clouds are thickening in areas like Albany and Boston, where a wet afternoon is likely. Rain showers extend across Syracuse, creating damp conditions as precipitation moves eastward. Eyes on Buffalo as well, where steady rain is observed, suggesting a soggy day ahead.
In the afternoon, New York City will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures steady at 48 degrees through 5 PM. Winds will be calm, providing a comfortable atmosphere for any outdoor plans. By 7 PM, expect an increase in cloud cover, moving to mostly cloudy skies as temperatures slightly decrease to 45 degrees, accompanied by a light south-southeast wind at 3 miles per hour.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Northeast. It’s a cool day in Buffalo with a high of only 42 degrees. Syracuse is even cooler, reaching just 38 degrees. In contrast, Scranton is a bit warmer at 44 degrees, while New York City enjoys a more mild afternoon with a high of 50. Moving south, Philadelphia also sees a comfortable high of 51 degrees, and Pittsburgh stands post at 51 as well. Boston and Portland feel the chill with highs of 44 and 38 degrees, respectively.
In the Northeast, temperatures will dip significantly as cold air settles in. Boston will cool down to 30 degrees, while Portland experiences a brisk low of 30 as well. New York City is looking at a low near 42 degrees, with Philadelphia not far behind at 41 degrees. Pittsburgh and Scranton will both see lows of 35 degrees. Syracuse will settle at 36 degrees, and Albany will be slightly cooler at 34.
High temperatures for the Northeast tomorrow are showing a range of readings, with variances driven by recent weather patterns. In Philadelphia, expect a high of 55 degrees, while New York City will see a slightly cooler day with a high of 52 degrees. Scranton is anticipated to reach 53 degrees. Over in Pittsburgh, temperatures will climb to 59 degrees. Buffalo remains cooler with a high of just 45 degrees. Syracuse will be a bit more moderate, hitting 55 degrees. Boston is expected to stay on the lower end, only reaching 43 degrees, while Portland will manage a chilly 36 degrees.
A low-pressure system is moving into the Northeast tomorrow, bringing widespread precipitation and a risk for severe weather. Areas from Pittsburgh to Scranton should prepare for rain showers transitioning to a wintry mix, with potential snow accumulations farther inland. A warm front lifting through will lead to mild conditions along the coast from Philadelphia to Boston, increasing the chance of thunderstorms by afternoon. Watch for a sharp temperature drop and gusty winds as the cold front sweeps through by tomorrow night.
