As a new workweek begins in New York City, residents should brace themselves for an active weather pattern. Monday morning will see showers that will quickly escalate to thunderstorms around mid-morning, carrying potential for severe weather conditions including strong winds and heavy rainfall which could lead to localized flooding. Tuesday brings relief with partly cloudy skies and more gentle temperatures leading to a clearer and warmer Wednesday. As the week progresses, more showers are on the horizon, with temperatures fluctuating, making this a week where staying weather-aware is paramount.
The Northeast region is experiencing a variety of weather today. An active weather pattern brings rain and showers moving over Albany and extending up towards Syracuse and Buffalo. A more intense band of rain is setting up along the New York-Pennsylvania border, around Scranton, potentially affecting areas further northeast, including Boston. Clouds are increasing over Portland as scattered showers move closer to the city, with the possibility of rain in the afternoon.
New York City’s tomorrow morning will kick off with showers and a temperature of 64 degrees at 8 AM, accompanied by an east wind at 3 miles per hour. By 10 AM, brace for thunderstorms as temperatures rise slightly to 67 degrees, with calm wind conditions. As noon approaches, expect a few showers with temperatures reaching 70 degrees and a southwest wind at 4 miles per hour.
Tomorrow, temperatures soar across the Northeast with Washington, D.C. reaching a high of 81 degrees. In Philadelphia, expect a warm high of 79 degrees, while New York City will see temperatures hit 75 degrees. Scranton will warm to 77 degrees, and further north, Syracuse peaks at 74 degrees. Boston will be on the cooler side with a high of just 66 degrees.
A robust cold front will traverse the Northeast tomorrow, sweeping through cities from Buffalo to Boston. Expect strong thunderstorms late morning into the afternoon with the potential for damaging winds and heavy rainfall, especially along the 95 corridor. The associated rainfall could lead to localized flooding, so it’s a good idea to stay alert for any weather advisories. Cooler temperatures will follow as the front passes, leading to a drop of about 10 degrees and clearer skies by Thursday.
The UV index in New York City is expected to be moderate on Monday with a level of 6, leading to a burn time of approximately 23 minutes in direct sunlight. By Tuesday, the index will lower slightly to 5, extending the burn time to about 27 minutes.

Sunday: Cloudy skies persist with temperatures reaching 70 degrees and a low of 60 degrees.
