A cold front is forecasted to stir up some late afternoon thunderstorms tomorrow, possibly disrupting your commute. With temperatures ranging from the high 70s to mid 90s this week, and chances of thunderstorms particularly by Friday, it’s a week to stay weather-alert. Plan your outdoors carefully and keep an eye on the skies! On the Regional Radar, the Northeast is experiencing mostly clear skies with just some light rain off the coast of New York City. Albany, Syracuse, and Buffalo remain dry and relatively cloud-free, offering sunny conditions. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia enjoy clear skies, providing a great day ahead. Boston also stays dry with no precipitation on the horizon.
This afternoon in New York City, temperatures will reach 79 degrees at 4 PM, easing slightly to 76 degrees by 8 PM. Expect partly cloudy skies with a gentle breeze coming from the south-southeast at about 9 miles per hour. The wind shifts slightly to the southeast later, settling at 7 miles per hour by evening.
This afternoon, temperatures across the Northeast are on the warmer side. In Pittsburgh, we’re seeing a high of 84 degrees, while New York City registers at 79. Scranton and Albany will both reach 78 degrees, introducing a pleasant summer feel in those areas. Boston is a bit cooler at 75, and Portland tops out at 73. The consistent warmth across the region is noticeable, with only slight temperature variations.
Tonight, Boston will see a low of 67 degrees, while Portland cools to 63. New York is expected to drop to 71 degrees, with Philadelphia also experiencing the same low. Scranton will see a cooler night at 66 degrees, illustrating some chilly air making its way through the Northeast.
Tomorrow in the Northeast, temperatures will soar with Pittsburgh hitting a high of 91 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Philadelphia is also expected to see high temperatures around 87 degrees, while New York City will reach a pleasant 84. Scranton and Albany will experience slightly cooler conditions with highs of 84 and 85 respectively. The region will be influenced by a warm front, contributing to these above-normal temperatures.
A cold front is moving through the Northeast, bringing with it a line of showers and possible thunderstorms starting late afternoon tomorrow. From New York City to Boston, expect periods of heavy rain and gusty winds, which could cause travel delays during the evening commute. Temperatures will dip slightly behind the front, providing cooler and drier air into Wednesday. Keep an eye out for potential flooding in low-lying areas, as well as rapid weather changes during outdoor activities. As the front clears, skies will begin to brighten, setting the stage for a dry and pleasant end to the week.
