As we approach mid-April, New York City and its surrounding regions are experiencing a variety of weather patterns. From the cool daily highs and nighttime lows, to the onset of a significant low-pressure system promising rain and potential localized flooding—Meteorologist Amy Freeze covers all essential aspects you’ll need to navigate the week’s ever-changing weather. Across the Northeast, the radar is predominantly showing clear conditions, offering a lovely start to the day. Some areas are experiencing cloud cover and scattered precipitation. In the northern part of the region, light snow showers are brushing across areas like Syracuse and Albany, continuing to extend farther east towards Boston. In Portland, light rain is lingering, creating a damp scene as the day progresses. Buffalo and Pittsburgh enjoy breaks in the clouds, with a mix of sunshine peeking through, enhancing the crisp spring feel. Farther south, from Scranton to Washington, D.C., skies are mostly clear, allowing for a bright and pleasant day, while the area around New York City remains mostly dry with intermittent clouds.
This afternoon in New York City, expect sunny skies with temperatures holding steady at 48 degrees through 6 PM, accompanied by a gentle west wind at 6 miles per hour. As the evening progresses, the temperature will dip slightly to 45 degrees by 8 PM, with winds shifting to the southwest at 5 miles per hour.
In the western part of the region, Buffalo sees a chilly high of just 39 degrees, while Syracuse also struggles, matching that with a high of 39.
