Pockets of rain are developing near Pittsburgh, moving eastward. As this system progresses, Scranton and areas more north such as Buffalo are seeing rain begin to form, with Syracuse experiencing overcast skies. To the north, from Albany heading towards the Boston area, the weather remains clear. Farther south near Washington and extending through Philadelphia to New York City, skies are clear.
In New York City this afternoon, temperatures will remain steady at 62 degrees through 5 PM, before dipping to 58 degrees by 7 PM. Expect cloudy skies throughout the afternoon with a gentle breeze coming from the southwest, blowing up to 6 miles per hour at 3 PM, decreasing slightly to 4 miles per hour by 5 PM, and continuing at 4 miles per hour from the south-southwest by early evening.
Let’s take a look at the afternoon high temperatures in the Northeast today. In New York City, expect a pleasant 63 degrees, while Philadelphia warms up to a comfortable 67 degrees. Farther west, Pittsburgh reaches a high of 62, and Scranton sits slightly cooler at 58 degrees. Upstate, Syracuse lags behind at 52, and Buffalo shares the same fate with a chilly high of 52 as well. In contrast, Boston enjoys a bit of sunshine with a mild high of 57 degrees.
In the Northeast tonight, we’re looking at a notable drop in temperatures as cold air settles in. Boston will dip down to a chilly 28 degrees, while Portland is expected to be even colder at 30. New York City will see a low of 36, and Philadelphia is forecast to cool off to 53. Scranton is expected to be on the milder side at 51 degrees. Up in Syracuse, expect a low of 38. Lastly, Buffalo will hover around 38 degrees as well. It’s a stark contrast to the warmer temps we’ve been experiencing, so bundle up!
High temperatures for the Northeast tomorrow will be notably warm, marking above-average readings for the season. In Philadelphia, expect a pleasant high of 85 degrees. New York City will also experience a summery day with temperatures reaching 80 degrees. Scranton is forecasted for a high of 76 degrees, while Pittsburgh gets to an impressive 79 degrees. Farther north, Albany is looking at a high of 48 degrees, and Syracuse will be cooler at 49 degrees. Boston will remain on the chilly side with a high of just 43 degrees.
