A dynamic day across the Northeast region today! On the Regional Radar, rain showers are spreading extensively from the Great Lakes into western New York, with Buffalo experiencing consistent showers moving eastward. The rain continues into Syracuse, while cities like Scranton and Albany are seeing overcast skies with rain likely on the way. If you’re in Pittsburgh, spotty rain continues as the system shifts east. Philadelphia and New York City are seeing increasing cloud cover, setting the stage for potential precipitation later in the day. Under partly cloudy skies, Boston and Portland are enjoying dry conditions. Washington, D.C. is seeing a hint of rain developing, suggesting a shift in the weather pattern is ahead. Stay ready for changes across the region as this system moves through!
“Tomorrow morning in New York City starts off partly cloudy with temperatures at 42 degrees at 7 AM. As the morning progresses, skies clear to sunny conditions with temperatures rising to 44 degrees by 9 AM and 45 degrees at 11 AM. Winds remain from the northwest at 13 to 15 miles per hour, providing a brisk start to the day, so be prepared for a breezy morning as you head out.”
Tomorrow’s high temperatures in the Northeast will reflect a mix of near-average and slightly below-average readings. In Pittsburgh, expect a high of 55 degrees, which is quite pleasant for this time of year. Philadelphia will match that at 55 degrees as well, while New York City nudges slightly lower with a high of 54 degrees. Scranton is forecasted to reach 48 degrees. As we move farther north, Syracuse is looking at a relatively cool high of 45 degrees, and Buffalo will only manage 41 degrees. Boston shouldn’t expect much warmth either, with a high of 47 degrees, while Portland is a bit cooler at 42 degrees. Overall, a distinct trend toward milder temperatures is evident across the region, influenced by a broad area of high pressure settling in.
A rain-soaked day is forecasted for the Northeast on 03/21/2025. Heavy rain, embedded with potentially severe storms, will be impacting areas from Pittsburgh to Boston starting late morning. Watch for rainfall intensifying, especially around New York City by midday. As the system sweeps east, areas near Philadelphia and up toward Albany could experience strong gusty winds. The passage of a cold front is expected by late afternoon, leading to cooler, more stable conditions into Friday. Be prepared for possible localized flooding due to heavy downpours, and keep updated with possible weather alerts.
The UV index in New York City on Thursday will be low, so UV exposure risks are minimal as cloud cover significantly reduces harmful rays. On Friday, the UV index rises to 5, with a burn time of about 27 minutes in direct sunlight. Remember to apply sunscreen and wear sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes if you’ll be outside!
