Various cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, and D.C. will experience varied intensities of rainfall. As the rain moves toward Boston, expect stronger gusts and a chilly wrap-up. In the Northeast, a robust band of precipitation is sweeping over New York City, with rain intensifying as it advances north towards Boston. Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., experience lighter rainfall, with conditions expected to clear as the evening progresses. Meanwhile, the southern parts like Scranton, Albany, and Buffalo see consistent rain showers, with Syracuse also under a wet spell. Portland stays on alert as rain approaches, while areas like Pittsburgh are dry.
This afternoon in New York City will be a wet one with rain showers lessening. Temperatures will hold steady around 53 degrees, accompanied by a northeasterly wind gusting up to 11 miles per hour. Expect the damp and breezy conditions to continue into the evening.
In the Northeast today, New York City reaches a high of 54 degrees, while Philadelphia is slightly warmer at 55 degrees. Up north, Albany and Syracuse are cooler, each hitting around 51 degrees. Boston remains on the chilly side at just 49 degrees. Pittsburgh tops out at 55 degrees.
Tonight in the Northeast, Philadelphia will dip to 50. Scranton and Pittsburgh are forecasted to be colder, both hitting 45 degrees. Buffalo will be slightly cooler at 46, and Boston rounds out the region with a low of 47.
Tomorrow, New York City is expected to see a high of 54 degrees, while Philadelphia will reach 56. Boston and Portland will both hover around 50 degrees. Buffalo will enjoy slightly warmer conditions at 56 degrees, but overall, regions are quite a bit cooler than seasonal norms. Scranton and Syracuse will struggle to reach the low 50s, with a forecast of 51 degrees.
A cold front is set to sweep through the Northeast tomorrow, bringing rain and cooler temperatures. Expect steady rain from early morning, intensifying around cities like Boston and New York. Strong gusty winds are likely as the front moves through, with potential isolated thunderstorms. These conditions may lead to localized flooding, particularly in urban areas with poor drainage. By evening, precipitation tapers off, leading to a dry and cool Friday.
The UV index in New York City for Thursday is low at 2, with cloud cover and showers expected, reducing exposure risks. Friday will see a moderate UV index of 4.
