A significant rain system is making its way into the Southwest region, with Redding experiencing steady showers moving southeast. Reno is on the outer edge of the rain, possibly seeing some light showers. Areas like San Francisco and Fresno can expect cloudy conditions as the system approaches. Ely is enjoying clear skies with no precipitation in sight, while Flagstaff remains calm and dry. Los Angeles and San Diego are basking in bright, rain-free weather.
This afternoon in Phoenix, temperatures soar to 98 degrees by 4 PM, rising slightly to 99 degrees at 6 PM. Winds blow from the west-southwest at 11 to 15 miles per hour, adding a touch of breeze to the warm day. Expect partly cloudy skies transitioning to overcast conditions by evening.
After Phoenix hits the century mark again today, Las Vegas is not far behind with a high of 93. Over in San Diego, temperatures will be more moderate, peaking at 69 degrees, making it much cooler compared to the interior cities. Bakersfield is expecting a high of 79, offering a comfortable afternoon. Flagstaff will experience a notable contrast with a high of 73, providing relief from the heat further south.
Tonight in the Southwest, temperatures are set to dip significantly. Flagstaff will hit a low of 34 degrees, while Las Vegas cools down to a mild 61 degrees. In Cedar City, expect a nighttime temperature of 37. Ely dips to just 26 degrees.
High temperatures in the Southwest are expected to soar above average tomorrow. Las Vegas is set for a warm 78 degrees. In Southern California, Los Angeles will enjoy a high of 68 degrees, and farther north, Fresno will hit 72 degrees. Bakersfield and San Francisco will also see pleasant conditions with highs around 73 and 64 degrees, respectively.
Expect a clear and sunny day across much of the desert Southwest for tomorrow, with temperatures rising into the mid-80s. However, Northern California should brace for several rounds of valley rain, making for a wet Tuesday and Wednesday. Farther south, expect showers and heavy rainfall in the San Bernardino Valley, leading to slick conditions over mountain passes. This pattern brings challenging travel conditions, so plan accordingly. While the central desert regions remain dry, keep an eye on the coast for potentially tricky weather.
The UV index in Phoenix is very high, with a rating of 10 on Tuesday, leading to a burn time of just 12 minutes under the sun. Monday’s index is slightly lower at 9, but with a mere 15-minute burn time, sun protection remains essential!
