The Southwest region is experiencing a varied weather scene. Over California’s northern coast near Redding, the radar shows rain showers moving in from the Pacific Ocean, continuing to bring moisture inland, reaching areas like San Francisco and Fresno. The central California valleys are also receiving these showers, providing much-needed relief. Snow is gracing the higher elevations around Reno and along the Sierra Nevada, creating beautiful winter scenery.
In Nevada, places like Ely are witnessing a dry spell with clear skies dominating the scene. Las Vegas remains dry and mild, providing a pleasant climate for outdoor activities, while areas around Cedar City, Utah, are experiencing some cloud cover but no significant precipitation.
Southeast Arizona, including Flagstaff, sees a hint of snow showers, adding a chill in the air. In Phoenix, conditions are relatively dry with occasional clouds, but the overall atmosphere remains mild. As we glance eastward towards the Arizona-New Mexico border, light rain is developing, suggesting a potential for more widespread showers later in the day.
Phoenix residents waking up on Friday morning can expect mostly cloudy skies to start their day with temperatures holding steady around 55 degrees at 7 AM. As you move closer to noon, the clouds give way to partly cloudy conditions. Temperatures will rise gradually to 61 degrees by 11 AM, with a gentle breeze from the southeast at 5 miles per hour.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow are shaping up to be quite warm. In Phoenix, expect a high of 73 degrees, a bit above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will see a high of 70 degrees, which is also slightly warmer than usual.
In the coastal areas, San Diego will enjoy a mild high of 66 degrees, while Los Angeles warms up to 68 degrees. Bakersfield is looking at a high of 72 degrees, which is consistent with the seasonal average.
Moving north, Fresno will hit 72 degrees, maintaining the trend of above-average temperatures. Over in Ely, Nevada, the high will be cooler at 46 degrees, influenced by lingering cool air from recent weather patterns.
For the Southwest tomorrow, expect a mix of weather conditions. The desert areas will generally have sunny skies with rising temperatures, ideal for outdoor activities. However, along the California coastline, prepare for cloudy skies with intermittent showers, particularly affecting travel through mountain areas. Central and Southern parts could see more significant rain with embedded thunderstorms. Watch for slick roads and possible localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Farther inland, areas like the Sierra Nevada may experience additional snowfall, so keep this in mind if traveling through higher elevations.
The UV index in Phoenix today and tomorrow is high at 8, indicating strong sun exposure. Expect a burn time of approximately 17 minutes when in direct sunlight.
