As sunshine dominates Phoenix’s skyline tomorrow morning, the Southwest faces eclectic weather. Clear, balmy mornings lead to chilly, snowy surprises, demonstrating nature’s unpredictability. Amy Freeze breaks down what these changes mean for your week ahead.
A powerful storm system is sweeping through the Southwest, showcasing a mix of weather phenomena. Rain is making its way into San Diego, moving up along the coast towards Los Angeles. In California’s Central Valley, Fresno is experiencing widespread rain, while higher elevations around Redding are receiving snow. Ely is currently under partly cloudy skies, whereas Flagstaff is expecting some light snow as the temperature drops. Las Vegas is dry with clear skies, providing a break from the surrounding precipitation.
Tomorrow morning in Phoenix, temperatures start at 68 degrees at 8 AM with clear skies. By 10 AM, the temperature rises to 70 degrees under sunny conditions. As the morning progresses to noon, expect the temperature to reach 76 degrees with continued sunshine. Winds will be breezy, mainly from the east at 3 to 4 miles per hour, maintaining a calm and bright start to the day.
High temperatures in the Southwest region will be notably warm for tomorrow. Phoenix is set to soar to a blistering 102 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will also experience the heat, reaching a high of 96 degrees. In California, Bakersfield will see temperatures close behind at 99 degrees, with Los Angeles enjoying a pleasant 89 degrees. Coastal cities like San Diego will remain more mild, hitting around 81 degrees.
A dry and warm pattern dominates the Southwest, with sunny skies covering Arizona and New Mexico over the next 24 to 48 hours. In Southern California, a coastal low will bring scattered showers and potential thunderstorms, especially in the San Bernardino Valley, creating slick roads. The Sierra Nevada could face snowfall at higher elevations. Expect temperatures to remain above average, providing dry conditions for outdoor activities in the interior regions. Keep an eye on travel conditions, especially over elevated passes, as weather shifts develop.
The UV index in Phoenix will be extremely high at 10 on both Thursday and Friday, with a burn time of just 12 minutes in direct sunlight. Ensure to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen and cover up with hats and sunglasses when outdoors.
