The Southwest is experiencing varying weather conditions. Light rain is moving through the Redding area, bringing moisture to Northern California. Reno and Ely are seeing some cloud cover, with Ely possibly experiencing a few scattered showers. Cedar City and areas surrounding Salt Lake are mostly overcast but dry for now. Las Vegas and Phoenix remain clear, enjoying the dry and warm desert conditions, while Flagstaff could expect some overcast skies with no immediate precipitation detected.
Temperatures in Phoenix this afternoon rise from 86 degrees at 4 PM to 90 degrees by 8 PM under clear and sunny skies. Winds shift from the southwest at 4 MPH to the west at 6 MPH by 6 PM, then turning west-southwest at 8 MPH. Enjoy clear weather through the afternoon!
In the Southwest today, we’re seeing warm temperatures, especially in the desert areas. Phoenix is hot at 91 degrees, making it the warmest spot in the region. Las Vegas is also quite warm, hitting a high of 88 degrees. Over in Flagstaff, temperatures are much cooler at 66 degrees, highlighting a significant contrast. Meanwhile, Los Angeles and San Diego are both sitting at a mild 63 degrees loop, with coastal influences keeping them cooler than their inland counterparts.
Tonight in the Southwest, temperatures will drop significantly as a cold air mass settles in. Las Vegas will see a low of 54 degrees, while Flagstaff is bracing for a chilly 31. Phoenix should stay mild at 60 degrees, but Cedar City could dip to a frigid 29. Reno is expected to chill down to 37 degrees. San Francisco will have a low of 51 degrees, while the northern part of the region, Redding, finishes the night at 52.
Phoenix will be warm, hitting 81 degrees, while Las Vegas heats up to 76 degrees. Further west, Los Angeles can expect a high of 58 degrees, slightly cooler than usual, and San Diego will reach 65 degrees. In Fresno, temperatures climb to 71, reflecting a pleasant day overall. Meanwhile, San Francisco stays cooler at 61 degrees, as some coastal influences keep it mild.
Southern California will continue to experience unsettled weather into tomorrow, with scattered showers particularly impacting coastal and valley areas, leading to slick conditions for commuters. Meanwhile, the desert regions remain clear and warm, offering respite from the coastal rain. Northern California faces rounds of more significant rain, with potential flooding in low-lying areas. Temperatures southwards of the front will be mild but expect cooling after fronts pass over the northern parts.
The UV index in Phoenix for Wednesday and Thursday will be very high at 9, indicating a burn time of 15 minutes in direct sunlight.
