As Phoenix enjoys mostly sunny skies this afternoon, areas across Nevada and Utah are not as lucky, facing showers and storms. Phoenix temperatures will see a high of 78°F today, cooling slightly by evening. The week ahead promises more warmth with a pop-up storm or two, so keep your umbrellas handy and stay tuned for rapid weather changes that could affect your plans. On the Regional Radar for the Southwest, a mix of showers and thunderstorms can be seen across parts of Nevada and Utah. Notably, Ely, Reno, and Salt Lake City are experiencing precipitation with rain showers dotting the landscape. Heavy showers are also moving through Cedar City, bringing significant rain coverage to the area. Over in California, some rain is seen around the Redding region. Las Vegas and further south towards Phoenix remain dry.
Phoenix will experience temperatures starting at 77 degrees at 4 PM, slightly cooling to 74 degrees by 8 PM. Expect partly cloudy skies early in the afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms developing by 6 PM. Wind conditions are from the southwest at 13 miles per hour, reducing to 10 miles per hour by the evening as thunderstorms become more isolated.
Today’s regional high temperatures in the Southwest are shaping up nicely. In Phoenix, expect a warm high of 78 degrees, while Las Vegas will see a slightly cooler 71. Farther west, Los Angeles maintains a comfortable 62 degrees, compared to a much warmer 67 in San Francisco. Bakersfield checks in with 72 degrees, offering a pleasant afternoon. In Flagstaff, temperatures drop to 53 degrees, showcasing a stark contrast to the lower elevations. Ely reaches a high of just 58 degrees, adding to the variety in today’s temperature landscape.
Expect lows of 32 degrees in Flagstaff and a brisk 30 in Ely. Las Vegas will see a low of 59 degrees, while Phoenix remains milder at 60 degrees. In California, Los Angeles will experience a low of 55, with San Diego slightly cooler at 54. Keep an eye on those chilly nighttime temperatures!
High temperatures in the Southwest for tomorrow are expected to be well above average. Redding leads the way with a high of 89 degrees, while Bakersfield and Fresno will reach 84 and 82 degrees respectively. Las Vegas will also see a warm day at 66 degrees, with Phoenix hitting 71 degrees. San Francisco will be slightly cooler at 77 degrees, and Los Angeles will have a pleasant high of 66 degrees.
Expect a dynamic weather day across the Southwest as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms move through Arizona and New Mexico. Temperatures remain warm ahead of the approaching cold front, which will likely bring cooler conditions by the end of the week. Areas near Las Vegas could see brief heavy downpours during the evening hours. Watch for potential flash flooding in low-lying areas prone to sudden water accumulation. As the system moves eastward, skies will begin to clear, leading to sunny weather by midweek.
The UV index in Phoenix is at a very high level of 9 today, with sunburn possible in just 15 minutes if you’re unprotected. Tomorrow, clouds and possible rain lower the UV index to 6, stretching the burn time to 23 minutes.
