Phoenix Evening News – 05/14/2025 Meteorologist Amy Freeze here with your Southwest Forecast update. With clear skies scheduled for the evenings in Phoenix, it’s the perfect time for stargazing. But that’s not all—this week, temperatures will continue to rise, offering pleasant days ahead. From the snowy mountain caps of Ely to the dry, sunny stretches from San Francisco to San Diego, each area has its own pattern to look out for. Stay updated and prepared with our detailed forecasts.
The Southwest is seeing a mix of weather conditions this afternoon. For the mountain areas surrounding Ely, light snow is gently falling, extending towards Cedar City, where snow showers are more pronounced. Northern Utah displays scattered rain showers, notably around and north of Salt Lake City, transitioning to snow in the higher elevations. Meanwhile, coastal California remains clear, with San Francisco to San Diego enjoying dry conditions and a break from the recent unsettled weather. Las Vegas and Phoenix should expect a pleasant end to the day.
For this evening in Phoenix, temperatures will gradually decrease from 84 degrees at 9 PM to 77 degrees by 1 AM. Expect clear skies throughout the night with a gentle west-southwest wind between 5 to 11 mph. It’s a perfect night for stargazing under an unobstructed clear sky.
Tonight, the Southwest is experiencing quite a chill with Flagstaff plunging to a brisk 33 degrees. Ely will see a low of 37, while Las Vegas cools down to a comfortable 63. Over in San Diego, expect temperatures to dip to 56 degrees, and Los Angeles will match that, also at 56. Bakersfield is forecasting a slightly warmer night with a low of 60 degrees.
Tomorrow, Phoenix will see a high of 91 degrees, while Las Vegas gets up to a balmy 87 degrees. In Southern California, temperatures will reach 73 degrees in Los Angeles and a comfortable 69 degrees in San Diego. Across the region, clear skies and a high-pressure system are driving these elevated readings. San Francisco will remain cooler at 65 degrees due to coastal influences.
A developing weather pattern in the Southwest calls for caution as the region transitions from dry to active conditions. Expect scattered showers in northern Nevada by late afternoon, moving southeastward, potentially affecting parts of Arizona and New Mexico by tomorrow evening. While severe weather is not the main concern, localized heavy rainfall could lead to slick roads, especially in higher elevations. The weather remains mostly clear farther west towards the California coast. Temperatures will trend cooler, aligning more closely with seasonal averages, as this system progresses through the area.
The UV index in Phoenix will be very high today and tomorrow, reaching a value of 10. With an expected burn time of just 12 minute.
For the Phoenix 7 Day Outlook, Wednesday: Mostly clear conditions will dominate, with temperatures rising to 86 degrees and cooling to 64 at night.
