On the Regional Radar, conditions in the Southwest show a dynamic mix of weather. Starting in California, rain is moving inland from the Pacific Ocean, bringing much-needed moisture to Redding and extending down through San Francisco and the Central Valley. Fresno and Bakersfield are experiencing light rain as well, offering a break from the dry spell. The wet weather doesn’t quite reach Los Angeles, where conditions remain calm and more mild. Farther inland, Ely, Nevada, is under a blanket of snow with a wintry mix occurring as well. It’s a similar scene in the higher elevations around Salt Lake City, where snow is covering the region. Las Vegas stays dry, with clear skies allowing for a crisp night. Down in Arizona, Flagstaff is seeing some light snow showers, adding to the chill in the air. Meanwhile, much of the rest of Arizona, including Phoenix, remains dry with clear skies. Cedar City is also experiencing the snowy conditions, with light snow flurries adding a picturesque element to the surroundings.
For this evening in Phoenix, anticipate mostly sunny conditions, with temperatures starting at 68 degrees at 8 PM and gradually cooling to 63 degrees by midnight. Expect a consistent wind pattern from the west-northwest at around 6 miles per hour.
TheSouthwest is in for a chilly night as cold air settles in. Temperatures are dropping significantly across the region. Ely will experience a brisk low of 21 degrees, while Flagstaff is forecasted to hit 25. In Cedar City, expect a low of 25 as well. Las Vegas will stay relatively warmer at 50 degrees, but still cooler than recent nights. Moving to California, Fresno will drop to 46, and Bakersfield is looking at a low of 48. Los Angeles and San Diego will wrap up the night at 50 and 48 degrees, respectively.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow are shaping up to be quite warm. In Phoenix, expect a high of 73 degrees, a bit above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will see a high of 70 degrees, which is also slightly warmer than usual. In the coastal areas, San Diego will enjoy a mild high of 66 degrees, while Los Angeles warms up to 68 degrees. Bakersfield is looking at a high of 72 degrees, which is consistent with the seasonal average. Moving north, Fresno will hit 72 degrees, maintaining the trend of above-average temperatures. Over in Ely, Nevada, the high will be cooler at 46 degrees, influenced by lingering cool air from recent weather patterns.
Expect sunny conditions to dominate the desert areas of the Southwest on Friday. Along the coast, however, things are shifting. For Friday, Northern California will experience periods of valley rain, keeping things wet. Meanwhile, Southern California, including the San Bernardino Valley, will face repeated bouts of heavy rain showers, leading to slick road conditions in higher elevations. Looking ahead, the pattern brings further unsettled weather across the coastal areas with a mix of rain and potential gusty winds through the weekend. Keep an eye on the forecast as changes unfold, particularly when traveling through mountain passes.
