The regional radar shows precipitation activity around Ely and Cedar City, with snow showers moving across the higher elevations in Nevada and Utah. There’s light snow indicated over areas near Salt Lake City. Reno is experiencing clear conditions. Major cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego enjoy cloud-free skies, making it a good day for outdoor activities. Farther south and along the Pacific coast, conditions remain dry and calm, with no signs of precipitation.
In Phoenix this afternoon, expect sunny skies with temperatures rising from 77 degrees at 3 PM to a warm 81 degrees by 7 PM. Winds are mild, beginning from the west-southwest at 5 miles per hour and shifting to the west-northwest at 7 miles per hour by 5 PM.
In the Southwest region today, we’re looking at some warm temperatures. Las Vegas will reach 77. San Diego is slightly cooler at 65 degrees, but still pleasant for outdoor activities. Los Angeles enjoys a high of 67 degrees, providing a mild day along the coast. In contrast, Flagstaff will only see a high of 58 degrees, offering a stark difference from the warmer desert areas.
Expect a brisk 31 degrees in Flagstaff, which is quite a drop for the area. Ely will see temperatures dipping to 35 degrees, while Cedar City will register a low of 40. Las Vegas remains relatively mild at 60 degrees, but be prepared for a cooler night in Los Angeles at 55 degrees.
Tomorrow Phoenix will be particularly warm, reaching a high of 88 degrees. Las Vegas isn’t far behind, with a high expected at 83 degrees. In California, Bakersfield will see 84 degrees while Los Angeles remains slightly cooler at 72 degrees.
A cold front moves through the Southwest tomorrow, bringing a mix of rain and possible thunderstorms, especially across Arizona and New Mexico. Expect significant rainfall in central Arizona, with potential flooding in low-lying areas. Northern regions, like Utah, will see cooler temperatures with rain turning to snow in higher elevations. Winds pick up across the region, making driving conditions challenging, especially near mountain passes.
