Good evening, Phoenix! Meteorologist Amy Freeze here with a detailed forecast that promises clear skies and a perfect stargazing adventure this evening. As the temperatures drop enticingly in our city, the rest of the Southwest will see an array of weather patterns, from needed rain along the Pacific coast to unexpected snow in higher elevations. In the Southwest, the regional radar reveals rain along the coastlines from San Francisco to San Diego. This welcome precipitation is advancing inland toward Fresno and Bakersfield, bringing necessary moisture to California’s central valleys. Higher elevations near Reno and Ely are experiencing snow, while Flagstaff sees light snow showers. Las Vegas and Phoenix remain mostly dry under clear skies. Salt Lake City and Cedar City continue under persistent cloud cover without rain.
Tonight in Phoenix, expect a steady drop in temperatures starting from 93 degrees at 9 PM to 85 degrees by 1 AM. The evening skies will be mostly clear, providing a vibrant view of the stars. Winds will remain consistent from the west at 7 miles per hour, shifting to 5 miles per hour from the northwest later in the evening.
Tonight in the Southwest, Las Vegas will see a low of 43 degrees, while Flagstaff drops to a chilly 42. In Southern California, Los Angeles is forecasted at 63 degrees, and San Diego is slightly cooler at 60. San Francisco will cool down to 50 degrees, a noticeable drop from earlier in the day. Expect temperatures in Reno to bottom out at 53 degrees as well.
High temperatures in the Southwest tomorrow are expected to be well above average. Phoenix will reach a scorching 102 degrees, while Las Vegas is forecasted to hit 96 degrees. Bakersfield and Fresno are both looking at highs around 99 and 98 degrees, respectively. San Diego will enjoy milder conditions with a high of 81 degrees. San Francisco will remain cooler at 70 degrees, but overall, significant warmth dominates the region.
A sunny and dry pattern dominates the desert Southwest tomorrow, with temperatures climbing into the low 90s. In contrast, the coastal areas of Southern California, including the San Bernardino Valley, will experience another wave of showers. Expect locally heavy rainfall that could lead to challenging driving conditions in the mountain passes. Northern California’s valley region will also see several rounds of rain as a weather system moves through. Keep an eye on potential flash flooding concerns in parts vulnerable to heavy precipitation.
In Phoenix, the UV index is at a very high level of 10 on both Thursday and Friday. Expect rapid sunburn in just about 12 minutes with such strong UV exposure.
For the Phoenix 7 Day Outlook, Thursday: Clear skies with a high of 95 degrees and a low of 73 degrees. Friday: Sunny throughout the day, the temperature will reach 103 degrees, cooling down to 79 degrees at night. Saturday: Mostly clear with daytime temperatures soaring to 103 degrees and a nightly low of 81 degrees. Sunday: Expect partly cloudy conditions with a high of 105 degrees and a low of 77 degrees. Monday: Skies turn partly cloudy with temperatures around 98 degrees for the high and 73 degrees for the low. Tuesday: Mostly clear weather as temperatures peak at 87 degrees and drop to 65 degrees overnight. Wednesday: Clear to mostly clear skies, reaching a high of 89 degrees and cooling to a low of 67 degrees.
