The Southwest radar reveals a tapestry of weather conditions today. Stormy weather is sweeping across the northern regions, with Reno experiencing a mix of rain and snow as precipitation intensifies. Central California, including cities like Fresno and Bakersfield, is encountering rain showers, providing much-needed moisture to the area. Over in Southern California, Los Angeles and San Diego enjoy calm and clear conditions, allowing for a pleasant day outdoors. Flagstaff is blanketed in snow, bringing a picturesque winter setting, while Phoenix remains dry under clear skies.
“Tomorrow morning in Phoenix, temperatures start at 66 degrees at 7 a.m. under clear skies. A shift to partly cloudy ahead with temperatures around 65 degrees by 9 a.m. Winds will be from the south at 4 mph. By 11 a.m., anticipate mostly cloudy skies as temperatures rise to 72 degrees, with a light breeze coming from the south-southeast at 5 mph.”
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow are trending on the warmer side. In the heart of the desert, Phoenix is set to reach a sizzling high of 84 degrees, well above the seasonal average. Las Vegas will also feel the heat, with expected highs around 75 degrees, making for a pleasant day. As we move toward California, Bakersfield will hit 75 degrees, while Fresno is slightly cooler at 70 degrees. Los Angeles is projected to see a high of 63 degrees, providing a more mild day for the coastal city. San Diego remains comfortable, with highs expected at 62 degrees. Farther north, Redding will see highs of 61 degrees, and San Francisco will be cooler at 59 degrees.
In the Southwest, as we look to tomorrow, expect an active weather pattern. A vigorous system will impact central and northern California with rain and snow in the higher elevations. This brings a risk of slippery conditions and potential travel disruptions over mountain passes. Farther south, in Southern California, anticipate scattered showers advancing into inland areas, possibly causing slick roads. Meanwhile, in the desert regions, conditions remain dry and breezy with mild temperatures, providing pleasant weather for outdoor activities. Be aware of changing weather conditions, particularly in the northern parts over the next 24 to 48 hours.
The UV index in Phoenix on Thursday is high at 8, with a burn time of about 17 minutes in direct sunlight. For Friday, the index drops to 6, moderating the strength of the sun, with a burn time of approximately 23 minutes.
