The northern section, including Redding and Reno, is experiencing ongoing light rain showers, bringing much-needed moisture to these areas. As we move down the map, light showers around Cedar City as well. Bakersfield and Fresno are notably dry with no recent precipitation detected. However, clouds are gathering. Las Vegas and Phoenix are enjoying clear skies, while to the southeast, Flagstaff may witness some light rain mixed with snow flurries. Southern California, including Los Angeles and San Diego, is generally more mild, with dry conditions today.
Phoenix will experience a warm afternoon with sunny skies. Temperatures rise from 93 degrees at 3 PM to 97 degrees by 7 PM. Winds shift from southeast at 4 miles per hour to a westerly direction by evening, maintaining a light breeze throughout the afternoon.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Southwest. In Las Vegas, we’re hitting a scorching 90 degrees, while Phoenix is even warmer at 99 degrees, showing off those typical spring temperatures. Over toward California, Bakersfield tops out at 92 degrees, with Fresno closely following at 88. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, it’s a more mild day at 75 degrees, while San Diego stays comfortable with a high of 72. Overall, it’s a hot day across the Southwest, with some notable temperature differences to keep in mind.
Tonight, the Southwest is bracing for some chilly temperatures. Flagstaff drops to a brisk 39 degrees. In Las Vegas, expect a mild night with a low of 63. The mercury will dip to 54 in San Diego and 53 in Los Angeles. Bakersfield will report 56 degrees, and Fresno will be a touch cooler at 55 Redding will bottom out at 52 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow look to range widely, but many areas will see above-average readings as warm air continues to dominate. Across Arizona, Phoenix is forecasted to reach a sizzling 93 degrees, while Flagstaff remains cooler at 68 degrees. In Southern Nevada, Las Vegas will soar to a high of 91 degrees, making for a warm spring day. California’s high temperatures will vary as well, with Bakersfield hitting a notable 84 degrees and Los Angeles warming up to 64 degrees. San Diego will see a high of 63 degrees.
On the futurecast for the Southwest, a high-pressure system dominates, keeping skies clear and sunny across much of the desert regions. However, in Northern California, expect rounds of rain impacting the valleys starting Wednesday night, leading to potentially slick road conditions. For Southern California, particularly the San Bernardino Valley, anticipate thick fog mid week.
The UV index in Phoenix will be high at 7 on both Tuesday and Wednesday. This means you should be cautious if you’re planning to spend a lot of time outdoors. With a burn time of about 20 minutes in direct sunlight, remember to apply sunscreen.
