Good evening, Salt Lake City! Meteorologist Amy Freeze here with your latest regional weather outlook. This serene evening brings mostly clear skies over Salt Lake, but don’t be fooled; the weather is set to turn. Rain showers loom over northern Nevada, and they’re headed our way, bringing potential storms and significant changes in temperature. Los Angeles and Las Vegas remain dry for now, offering a sharp contrast to the cooler and wetter conditions predicted for Phoenix and surrounding areas. Rain showers are primarily concentrated over northern Nevada, impacting areas like Ely and Cedar City. Showers are expected to move eastward, bringing some wet weather to Salt Lake City. Light precipitation can also be seen near Reno, with clouds spreading into the surrounding regions. Meanwhile, coastal California, including San Francisco and Los Angeles, remains free storm free allowing for dry weather for Phoenix and Las Vegas.
For this evening in Salt Lake City, temperatures start at 65 degrees at 9 PM, then dip to 60 degrees by 11 PM, and finally reach 56 degrees by 1 AM. Expect clear skies throughout the night. Winds will shift from northwest at 9 miles per hour earlier in the evening to east at 5 miles per hour by 1 AM.
Tonight Ely hits a chilly 37 degrees. Flagstaff will also see a low of 37, while Las Vegas stays milder at 65 degrees. In California, San Francisco will cool to 51, and Fresno is expected to reach 56. Bakersfield is slightly warmer at 60 degrees, while San Diego rounds out the region with a low of 57.
Tomorrow Los Angeles will reach a comfortable 66 degrees, while farther inland, Bakersfield will see temperatures climb to a hot 89 degrees. Las Vegas is expected to be sizzling at 90 degrees, and Phoenix will also experience a warm day with a high of 93 degrees. In contrast, San Francisco will be cooler at 60 degrees, reflecting a significant coastal influence.
A developing weather pattern will affect the Southwest tomorrow with a cool front pushing through, bringing widespread thunderstorms from southern Arizona to New Mexico by late afternoon. Expect heavy rain and damaging winds, especially near Phoenix and Tucson, which may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas. Temperatures will drop slightly behind the front, with highs reaching only the mid-70s in these regions. The front moves eastward into Texas by evening, where thunderstorms could persist.
