The radar for the Southwest region shows clear conditions predominantly stretching across Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona. Redding and Fresno are experiencing calm conditions as well, with no significant weather activity. However, in Utah, near Salt Lake City, there are small clusters of rain to keep an eye on for the early part of Friday. Ely and Reno are not seeing any precipitation at the moment. For areas like San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles, conditions remain dry and stable, perfect for outdoor activities.
For this evening in Salt Lake City, expect clear skies with temperatures starting at 80 degrees at 9 PM, cooling down to 67 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be calm, shifting from northwest at 8 mph to a gentle eastward breeze by late night.
Temperatures in the Southwest are dipping significantly tonight. Flagstaff will see a chilly low of 44 degrees, while Las Vegas remains warmer at 57. Bakersfield is expected to cool down to 67, and Los Angeles will settle around 59 degrees. San Francisco will notch a low of 52 tonight, which feels notably cooler for the region. Expect Fresno to drop to 62 degrees, making for a crisp night across the area.
Tomorrow across the Southwest, Las Vegas aims for 99 degrees. In California, Bakersfield will see a high of 102 degrees, and Los Angeles will warm up to 93. San Diego will enjoy a milder 87 degrees, and further north, San Francisco holds at 70. This broad warmth is being driven by a high-pressure system settling over the region, providing clear skies and plenty of sunshine.
The Southwest is in for quite a weather shift tomorrow as a strong cold front moves through the region. Expect thunderstorms, with the potential for severe weather, particularly in Arizona and New Mexico. Heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, so stay alert. Temperatures will drop significantly after the front passes, bringing cooler and more comfortable conditions for the weekend. California remains mostly dry with a few isolated showers over the mountains.
The UV index in Salt Lake City will be high at 8 on both Friday and Saturday, with a corresponding burn time of about 17 minutes in direct sunlight.
