It’s a mostly calm scene across the Southwest, with clear skies prevailing from Phoenix to San Diego. Up near Ely, a few scattered clouds are lining the sky. The Four Corners region shows some light precipitation forming, not too impactful at this hour. Those in Salt Lake City may notice increasing cloud cover moving in from due north, but conditions remain dry for now.
Salt Lake City this afternoon will bring sunny skies with temperatures gradually rising from 87 degrees at 4 PM to 90 degrees by 6 PM. Winds will be from the northwest, ranging between 10 to 11 miles per hour. By 8 PM, temperatures will slightly dip to 89 degrees, maintaining clear and pleasant conditions.
Today’s temperatures in the Southwest are heating up significantly. In Las Vegas, expect a sizzling high of 111 degrees, while Phoenix pushes the mercury up to an intense 113 degrees. Over in Los Angeles, we’re looking at a more moderate high of 87 degrees, and San Diego stays relatively cool at 84 degrees. Fresno is warm as well, reaching 102 degrees, contrasting sharply with San Francisco, which is hitting a much chillier 68 degrees. It’s a classic summer day in the Southwest, with notable temperature variances across the region.
Tonight, Las Vegas will dip to 80 degrees, while Flagstaff is looking at a cooler 56 degrees. In San Francisco, expect a low of 55, and Los Angeles will see temperatures fall to 63 degrees. Meanwhile, Bakersfield will remain warmer at 75 degrees, staying relatively mild across the region.
Tomorrow in Redding, high temperatures will soar to 110 degrees, marking an unseasonably warm day. Las Vegas is also expected to experience heat with highs reaching 110 degrees. In Phoenix, anticipations of 110 degrees align with the ongoing heatwave affecting the region. Los Angeles will enjoy a slightly cooler day with a high of 82 degrees, while San Francisco will be much more mild at 68 degrees. This extreme warmth across the Southwest can be attributed to a strong high-pressure system lingering over the area.
A cold front pushes through the Southwest tomorrow, shifting weather patterns significantly. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially across Arizona and New Mexico, with some areas experiencing gusty winds. The California coast will remain dry, but inland regions might see brief precipitation. Temperatures cool by 5 to 10 degrees after the front passes, particularly in Nevada. Keep an eye on any severe weather watches as the day progresses, with storms tapering off by Thursday evening.
