A quiet afternoon is in place across much of the Southwest, though spotty rain showers are evident north of Cedar City. Ely is also seeing some snowy weather, with radar indications along the Nevada-Utah border. The rest of the region, including major cities like Los Angeles and Phoenix, remains dry and clear. Redding and Reno enjoy mostly clear conditions, while Salt Lake City sees some isolated snow showers. Expect the cooler temperatures and wintry weather to persist in the higher elevations.
This afternoon in Salt Lake City, expect temperatures to rise to 56 degrees by 3 PM with partly cloudy skies. As we progress to 5 PM, temperatures reach 58 degrees accompanied by mostly cloudy conditions. Winds from the northwest will maintain a gentle pace around 11 miles per hour. By 7 PM, anticipate steady temperatures at 58 degrees under densely cloudy skies with wind easing to 10 miles per hour.
Phoenix is basking in warmth with a high of 82 degrees, while Las Vegas sees a slightly cooler 77. Farther west, San Diego enjoys a comfortable 65 degrees, contrasting with the 67 degrees in Los Angeles. Fresno and Bakersfield both hit 73 degrees, providing a pleasant afternoon for those in Central California. Flagstaff remains cooler at 58, highlighting the elevation’s impact on temperature in the region.
Tonight, the Southwest is bracing for some chilly air as temperatures dip significantly. Flagstaff will be quite cold, dropping to 31 degrees, while Ely sees a low of 35. Las Vegas will be mild in comparison at 60 degrees. Farther along the coast, San Francisco is expected to cool down to 51 degrees. In Southern California, Los Angeles and San Diego will remain moderate, with lows around 55 and 55 degrees, respectively.
High temperatures across the Southwest are expected to be well above average tomorrow. Phoenix is forecasted to soar to 88 degrees, while Las Vegas will warm up to a comfortable 83 degrees. Bakersfield anticipates a high of 84 degrees and Fresno aligns closely with the trend, also hitting 83. Coastal areas will see milder temperatures, with San Diego reaching 70 degrees and Los Angeles a bit warmer at 72. Cooler air lingers in San Francisco at 63 degrees, contrasting with the overall heat wave in the region.
An active weather pattern is expected for the Southwest tomorrow, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms from Los Angeles to Phoenix. A cold front moving into the region will bring a drop in temperatures, especially across the desert areas, with highs falling into the upper 60s. Remaining vigilant for severe weather is advised, as strong wind gusts and brief heavy rain may accompany storms. The Sierra Nevada will see snowfall, making mountain travel challenging.
