Over the Southwest region, radar shows rain showers primarily affecting areas around Phoenix, with these conditions extending northward toward Flagstaff. Farther east, Cedar City is experiencing a mix of precipitation, indicating a blend of rain and snow as the elevation increases. Light snow showers are observed in higher elevations near Ely and stretching towards Salt Lake City, where heavier snow is expected. Clear conditions dominate the California coastline, from San Diego up through San Francisco, providing a dry respite. A few scattered showers are noted on the outskirts of Las Vegas, though the city itself remains mostly dry.
Temperatures in Salt Lake City this evening will start at 62 degrees at 9 PM, gradually dropping to 56 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be mostly from the north-northwest at 9 miles per hour, then shift slightly to east-northeast at 8 miles per hour. Cloud cover will be mostly cloudy early on, becoming partly cloudy later in the night.
Tonight in the Southwest, we’re looking at several chilly lows. Flagstaff will plummet to 36 degrees, while Ely is expected to be even colder at 37. Las Vegas will see a relatively mild night with a low of 64 degrees. Expect a cool evening in Los Angeles with temperatures dipping to 56. Phoenix remains warmer at 67 degrees, but still feels a noticeable drop from previous nights.
Tomorrow, Bakersfield is expecting a high of 89 degrees, while Fresno will heat up to 88 degrees. Los Angeles will see a pleasant high of 71 degrees. Las Vegas is looking at a warm 80 degrees, and Phoenix will also reach 85 degrees.
A high-pressure system influences much of the Southwest tomorrow, maintaining dry and sunny conditions across Arizona and New Mexico. Atmospheric instability brings scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially over the central Sierra Nevada in California and the mountains of Nevada. These storms could produce brief downpours and gusty winds, particularly in the afternoon. Temperatures remain steady, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s in the lowlands. Be cautious of any local flash flooding due to isolated heavy rainfall in mountainous areas.
