A dynamic weather scenario is unfolding over the Southeast. A strong line of storms is currently stretching from north of Tampa and Jacksonville, extending through Savannah and up toward Charlotte. These areas are experiencing significant thunderstorm activity with heavy rain. Meanwhile, rain showers continue trailing behind this storm line, impacting areas such as Montgomery and moving northeast. In contrast, New Orleans, Houston, and Shreveport are enjoying relatively clear skies, while Memphis observes cloud cover but remains dry for now.
For this evening in Atlanta, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures starting at 59 degrees at 8 PM, cooling to 49 degrees by midnight. Winds will remain consistent from the northwest at around 14 miles per hour. If you’re heading out, be prepared for a cooler night.
Low temperatures across the Southeast will bring a notable chill. Memphis will drop to around 41 degrees, while Nashville sees a low of 38. In Atlanta, temperatures will also fall to 38. Montgomery will be a little cooler at 36 degrees. Shreveport is forecasted to sit at 55 degrees and New Orleans won’t stray far from that, hitting 50. Jacksonville is looking at a low of 46 and, further south, Tampa will rest at 49 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow across the Southeast show a notable warming trend for the region. In Houston, expect a high of 81 degrees, while Shreveport will warm up to 80 degrees. New Orleans will see a high of 72 degrees, and Jackson is forecasted to reach 70 degrees.
Farther north, Memphis will manage a high of 68 degrees, with Nashville a bit cooler at 61 degrees. Montgomery, Alabama, will have a high of 67 degrees, while Atlanta is expected to hover around 61 degrees. Meanwhile, along the coast, Jacksonville is forecasted for 65 degrees and Tampa will be a bit warmer at 65 degrees.
Miami leads the way with a warm high of 77 degrees. Overall, these temperatures are slightly above average for this time of year, driven by warm air from the Gulf.
“Expect an active weather pattern across the Southeast. A line of strong thunderstorms will push through the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida as a cold front advances, bringing heavy rain and potential severe storms by tomorrow morning. Areas from Charlotte to Jacksonville may experience gusty winds and localized flooding. The rain should taper off by late afternoon but remain alert as any shift in the storm path could increase risks. Temperatures will dip slightly behind the front, with clearer skies moving in by midweek.”
The UV index in Atlanta will be high at 7 both today and tomorrow. Be cautious with sun exposure as the burn time is around 20 minutes. Remember to apply sunscreen, and wear hats and sunglasses to protect yourself from harmful rays!
