As the Southeast experiences a patchwork of weather conditions, Amy Freeze delves into each setting—from Jacksonville’s sunny spells to the cooling whispers in Atlanta’s skies. Here’s a careful dissection of upcoming changes, including potential storms. Stay prepared and informed! The Southeast is witnessing light rain showers stretching from Jackson, eastward into Alabama. Atlanta and parts of northern Georgia are experiencing overcast skies with increasing clouds. Moving toward the northeast, Charlotte is seeing a mix of rain, adding to the wet conditions across the Carolinas. Savannah is currently dry but nearby areas are seeing rain moving in from the coast. Florida remains mostly clear, with cities like Jacksonville and Miami enjoying a break from precipitation.
Miami’s afternoon temperatures gently cool from 84 degrees at 4 PM to 82 degrees by 6 PM. Look forward to clear skies throughout the afternoon with a consistent east-southeast breeze at 9 miles per hour. By 8 PM, temperatures will further ease to 80 degrees under clear conditions.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures in the Southeast. In Shreveport, a sizzling high of 96 degrees sets the tone for the day. Houston will see a warm 93, while Jackson is slightly cooler at 88 degrees. Over in New Orleans, expect a high of 88 as well, just like Jackson. In Florida, Jacksonville reaches 89 degrees, and Tampa is not far behind with a high of 87. The warmer air continues to dominate, but with some regional contrasts, especially between the hotter and slightly more mild in coastal areas.
Tonight in the Southeast, temperatures will drop noticeably as cooler air settles in. Expect a chilly 69 degrees in Jacksonville and 70 in Savannah. Atlanta will have a low of 70, while Montgomery is forecasted to reach 71. Shreveport and Jackson will stay warmer at 74 degrees. New Orleans is looking at a mild 76 tonight, maintaining a comfortable evening for the Crescent City.
Tomorrow, the Southeast will experience warm temperatures, with several cities hitting or exceeding seasonal averages. Atlanta is set for a high of 87 degrees, while Montgomery will reach 92 degrees. Jacksonville is notably soaring to a high of 95 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. New Orleans and Jackson will also see warm readings at 89 degrees each. Miami can expect a comfortable high of 86 degrees, typical for this time of year.
The Southeast can expect an active weather pattern over the next 24 to 48 hours. A front moving from the west will bring thunderstorms early Wednesday from Atlanta to Montgomery, while areas like New Orleans to Jacksonville may experience heavier showers. Stronger storms could pose a severe weather risk, so it’s vital to stay alert for any warnings and advisories. By Thursday, the cold front clears, leading to cooler and mostly dry conditions, but with the possibility of lingering showers along coastal regions. Prepare for potential flooding in low-lying areas due to heavy rainfall accumulation.
The UV index in Miami is extremely high at 11 today, with potential sun exposure risks being quite high. Unprotected skin can burn in as little as 11 minutes, so make sure to apply a high-SPF sunscreen and seek shade during peak sun hours.
