Welcome to your detailed Southeast weather update with Meteorologist Amy Freeze. Today, Miami enjoys partly cloudy skies with temperatures peaking at 88 degrees. But, as we look across the Southeast, from Texas to Florida, weather conditions vary significantly. Stormy weather is set to roll in with a cold front, bringing potential heavy rainfall and strong winds. Stay tuned and prepared—detailed tips and forecasts on what these changes mean for your week are all here on our blog.
The Southeast region is experiencing a range of weather conditions. In southeastern Texas, near Houston, rain showers are progressing northeastward, potentially spreading into Louisiana. Light rain is scattered across the Gulf Coast, particularly affecting areas like New Orleans. Moving eastward, the skies remain mostly clear across Atlanta and Montgomery, providing a dry morning. Mild cloud cover is seen off the coast of Florida, with areas like Miami enjoying clear skies at the moment.
As evening sets in Miami, prepare for a few showers at 9 PM with temperatures around 79 degrees and an east-southeast breeze at 6 miles per hour. By 11 PM, skies turn partly cloudy with temperatures nudging up to 80 degrees, and winds shifting to the southeast at 5 miles per hour. At 1 AM, enjoy a mostly clear sky with temperatures holding steady at 80 degrees, as winds ease to 3 miles per hour.
Tonight Nashville will see a low of 59 degrees, while Atlanta will experience slightly warmer temperatures at 63. Montgomery is forecasted for 68 degrees, and Jacksonville will remain mild at 73. Shreveport is expected to drop to 75 degrees, while New Orleans stays warm at 76.
Tomorrow Atlanta can expect a high of 77 degrees, while Charlotte will reach 75. Memphis will warm up to 72 degrees, and further south, Montgomery is set to hit a balmy 89 degrees. New Orleans will see a high of 88, while Tampa hits a sizzling 95 degrees. Over in Jacksonville, temperatures will spike to an impressive 93 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region.
A strong cold front is set to make its way across the Southeast tomorrow, causing widespread impacts from New Orleans to Atlanta. The front will arrive with intense storms, bringing the potential for damaging winds and heavy rainfall, particularly in areas like Montgomery and Birmingham. Significant precipitation may lead to minor flooding, so keep an eye on water levels in low-lying areas through Thursday. Temperatures will drop noticeably behind the front, ushering in cooler and drier conditions by Saturday morning. Prepare for possible severe weather alerts, especially in storm-prone zones.
The UV index in Miami is extremely high today at 11, which means the sun’s rays can cause damage in just 11 minutes. Tomorrow’s UV index remains at 11, with an equally quick burn time.
