On the Regional Radar, a band of rain is sweeping through the Southeast, extending from New Orleans all the way to Jacksonville. The heaviest rain is currently impacting Tampa as it tracks eastward. Cloud cover is thickening ahead of this system across cities like Montgomery and Atlanta, indicating more widespread showers are approaching. It’s mainly dry along the northern Gulf Coast, stretching from Houston to New Orleans. Areas like Miami enjoy mostly clear skies at the moment. This evening in Atlanta, enjoy clear skies with temperatures starting at 73 degrees at 9 PM, gradually cooling to 66 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be light, shifting from a west-northwest direction at 7 mph to a gentle westerly breeze at 4 mph. The Southeast is looking at relatively mild overnight lows for June. Nashville will dip to 61 degrees, while Memphis sees a low of 65. In Alabama, Montgomery and Jackson will both register at 63 degrees. Expect cooler temperatures in Atlanta at 62 and 57 in Charlotte, making it one of the chilliest spots tonight. Miami remains warm with a low of 77, but it’s noticeable that much of the region is experiencing a modest drop as we move into the early morning hours. Tomorrow Houston will lead the pack with a high of 92 degrees, while New Orleans and Jackson each expect highs around 85 degrees. Atlanta is set to reach 83 degrees, and Savannah will be a bit warmer at 87 degrees. Coastal cities like Jacksonville and Tampa will also see highs hitting 90 degrees. Expect a mix of sunshine and humidity as these warm temperatures dominate the region. On Saturday, expect increasing cloudiness and scattered thunderstorms across the Southeast from New Orleans to Jacksonville. A cold front will move through the region, bringing heavy showers and possible flash flooding, especially for areas around Atlanta and Charlotte. Temperatures will generally hover in the 80s but will cool down with the passage of the front. Those in Tampa and Miami should prepare for brief but intense downpours. While severe thunderstorms are possible, particularly in the late afternoon, the main threats will be heavy rainfall and localized flooding. The UV index in Atlanta will be very high on Saturday with a value of 10, meaning sunburn can occur in just 12 minutes of exposure.
