On the Regional Radar, the Southeast is currently under a mix of conditions. A band of rain extends from Charlotte moving northeastward, suggesting that the Carolinas will continue to experience wet weather. Further west, from Atlanta to Jackson, we see clearer skies, though clouds are moving in, hinting at potential showers. New Orleans and Houston are both experiencing clear conditions after recent storms. Meanwhile, Jacksonville and Tampa enjoy sunny breaks with no immediate signs of rain. Miami remains clear and dry as well. Up north towards Memphis, skies are also holding steady without precipitation.
For this evening in Miami, anticipate mostly clear skies and a gradual cooling trend. Temperatures are expected to decrease from 75 degrees at 9 PM to 70 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will start from the south-southwest at 9 miles per hour, shifting to the west by 11 PM at 8 miles per hour, and continue from the west-northwest at 8 miles per hour into the early morning.
In Memphis, expect a low of 39 degrees. Nashville will dip to around 39 as well. Montgomery has a forecasted low of 41 degrees, while Jackson cools down to 46.
Meanwhile, Atlanta is expecting a low of 39 and further south in Jacksonville, temperatures will hit 52. Even in Tampa, temperatures will fall to a cool 57 degrees.
Prepare for patchy frost in the northern parts, as the cold air pattern continues to influence the region.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures in the Southeast will showcase some warmth, driven by high pressure lingering over the region.
In Houston, expect a high of 84 degrees, which is notably above average for this time of year. Shreveport will also see warm weather with a high reaching 81 degrees. Moving eastward, Jackson is forecasted for a pleasant 73 degrees, while New Orleans will enjoy a high of 75 degrees.
In Florida, temperatures will remain warm with Jacksonville and Tampa both hitting 75 degrees, and Miami peaking at a comfortable 82 degrees. Further north, Atlanta’s high will reach around 64 degrees, which is slightly below average, while Nashville will struggle to hit 64 degrees as well.
The Southeast is on alert as a cold front approaches from the west, bringing with it the potential for severe weather. Late Thursday night, expect thunderstorms to develop from Houston to Montgomery, advancing into Alabama and Mississippi. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted parts of these states in their Severe Weather Outlook, so keep an eye out for possible weather warnings. As the front moves, heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.
By Friday morning, storms extend across Georgia up to the Carolinas. Atlanta is poised for a wet commute with downpours possibly leading to hazardous driving conditions. Rainfall accumulations may exceed an inch in some spots, easing drought conditions but posing flooding risks. As the system exits by late Friday, expect cooler and more stable conditions to follow into the weekend.
The UV index in Miami is extremely high at 11 on both Friday and Saturday, with a burn time of just 11 minutes.
