Greetings, Atlanta and all across the Southeast! It’s Amy Freeze here with your thorough weather forecast. Tomorrow morning promises pleasant sunshine, but don’t leave your umbrellas behind as stormy conditions are on the horizon. From booming thunderstorms across Georgia and South Carolina to varying temperatures and skies throughout the region, stay prepared with our daily updates.
A storm system is swirling just off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to Savannah and Charleston. The rain is also stretching inland towards Charlotte with pockets of precipitation. Farther west, there’s a notable rain band over Memphis with scattered showers extending towards Jackson. Houston and New Orleans are under clear conditions with no precipitation, providing a break from the rain. Jacksonville and much of Florida’s coastline are observing spotty showers along with some clear spells.
Tomorrow morning in Atlanta starts off mostly sunny with temperatures at 72 degrees by 8 AM. The wind will be coming from the west-southwest at 3 miles per hour. By 10 AM, expect a temperature rise to 78 degrees with mostly sunny skies and a light west-northwest wind at 5 miles per hour. As lunchtime approaches, temperatures will reach 83 degrees under partly cloudy skies, with a gentle westerly breeze of 5 miles per hour.
Tomorrow Atlanta will reach a high of 89 degrees, while Montgomery gets up to 92. In Florida, Jacksonville is forecasted to have a high of 91 degrees, and Tampa isn’t far behind at 91. Farther west, Memphis will hit 85 degrees, and Houston warms up to 93.
Expect an active weather day across the Southeast as a cold front brings thunderstorms from Texas to the Mississippi River Valley by Thursday morning. Heavy downpours and damaging winds are likely, especially in areas around Memphis and Jackson. Showers will extend to Birmingham and Atlanta in the afternoon. On the Gulf coast from Houston to New Orleans, localized flooding is possible due to intense rainfall. Cooler and drier air will follow the front, bringing a brief break in the storm activity by late Thursday into Friday.
The UV index in Atlanta on Thursday will be high at 8, with a burn time of about 17 minutes in direct sunlight. By Friday, it escalates to a very high level of 10, reducing the burn time to just 12 minutes.
Thursday: Partly cloudy with a toasty high of 84 degrees and a low of 68 degrees. Friday: Morning clouds moving out, skies clearing, reaching up to 90 degrees, with the low at 71 degrees. Saturday: Thunderstorms are in the forecast, with a high around 88 degrees and a low of 69 degrees.
