Tonight showcases partly cloudy skies with mild temperatures, setting a calm before a potential stormy scene. A significant storm system is sweeping from Jacksonville to Savannah–heavy rains, severe conditions are expected. Remember, weather changes rapidly, so stay updated and safe. The Southeast region is in the line of severe weather for this afternoon and tonight. Check in with the Storm Prediction Center for the latest on the threats and timing for your area.. A significant storm system is bringing severe weather, with the heaviest activity observed stretching from Jacksonville up towards Savannah. This line of storms is moving northeast, bringing intense rainfall and potentially severe conditions.
Farther west, showers extend from New Orleans to Montgomery, with pockets of heavier rain embedded within these areas, indicating a need for caution as the day progresses. Memphis and Charlotte, to the north, are seeing some isolated rain showers, but conditions remain relatively stable.
Houston is experiencing clearer skies, with a break from precipitation, offering a brief respite from the stormy conditions predominant farther east. The overall trend suggests intensifying weather activity, particularly across northern Florida and coastal Georgia.
In Atlanta this evening, anticipate mostly cloudy skies with temperatures gradually decreasing. At 8 PM, it’s 68 degrees with a light south-southeast wind at 7 miles per hour. By 10 PM, the temperature slightly dips to 67 degrees. Expect the night to grow cloudier as the clock approaches midnight, with temperatures reaching 66 degrees and a south wind blowing at 6 miles per hour.
The Southeast is set for a chilly night, with temperatures dropping significantly across the region. Expect a low of 40 degrees in Memphis and 43 in Nashville. Jackson will be slightly milder at 53, while Shreveport sees a low of 55. In Alabama, Montgomery should cool down to 54 degrees. Moving farther south, Atlanta will experience a low of 47. Coastal areas remain warmer, with a mild night in Tampa at 70 degrees and Miami around 72.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southeast are shaping up to be quite warm. Nashville will see a cool day with a high reaching just 61 degrees. Over in Jackson, Mississippi, temperatures are expected to hit 72 degrees, providing a more mild afternoon.
New Orleans will experience a pleasant high of 80 degrees, while in Baton Rouge, temperatures will soar to 82 degrees. Farther south, Jacksonville and Savannah will push even higher, both hitting 84 degrees. Tampa is anticipated to peak at a warm 86 degrees, setting the stage for a summery feel. Miami is also on track for a steamy day at 82 degrees.
“A cold front is moving through the Southeast tomorrow, bringing a wave of thunderstorms from Houston to Jacksonville. New Orleans to Montgomery may see heavier downpours, so have your rain gear ready. Be mindful of potential severe weather with damaging winds and heavy rainfall especially from Memphis to Charlotte. As the front passes, expect cooler temperatures heading into Wednesday, with a brief respite in rain chances, offering a dry spell.”
