A line of severe storms is stretching from Houston to Shreveport, with heavy rain making its way across northern Louisiana. This storm system is also moving towards Memphis, where rain is forecasted to increase. Areas such as Jackson and Montgomery will soon experience rain, as the storm front shifts eastward. The Gulf Coast regions, including New Orleans and Jacksonville, currently enjoy clearer skies but should prepare for potential precipitation. Rain showers just off the coast of Miami are expected to remain offshore for now.
In Atlanta this afternoon, temperatures hold steady at 82 degrees until 6 PM with mostly cloudy skies. The wind picks up from the south-southeast at 9 miles per hour, bringing a slight breeze to the area. By 8 PM, temperatures drop slightly to 77 degrees while the clouds persist.
This afternoon’s high temperatures in the Southeast are shaping up nicely. Atlanta is expected to reach 82 degrees, while Montgomery will be warmer at 86 degrees. Over in Jackson, a comfortable afternoon is in store with a high of 84 degrees. New Orleans also sees a pleasant high of 82. Florida takes the spotlight today with Tampa soaring to a sweltering 90 degrees, while Miami stays cooler at 81.
Expect lows around 55 degrees in Memphis and Nashville. Jackson will register a low of 64 degrees while Shreveport is slightly cooler at 63. Further south, New Orleans will see a comfortable 70 degrees. Miami stays warm at 73, but overall, temperatures are about 10 degrees milder than yesterday across the region.
Tomorrow, the Southeast will see some warm temperatures, with highs trending above average in many areas. Atlanta’s high reaches 84 degrees, while Jacksonville basks in 88 degrees. New Orleans will enjoy a pleasant 81 degrees, and Montgomery is set to hit 86 degrees. Higher humidity levels are expected to accompany this warm trend, making it feel even warmer across the region. Memphis will experience a cooler high of 75 degrees as it remains slightly off the seasonal mark.
Showers and thunderstorms, associated with a cold front, will push eastward from Texas into Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama tonight, bringing rain and potential gusty winds. The front continues its journey into Georgia early Monday morning, impacting commute times in Atlanta with scattered showers. Expect stormy weather from New Orleans to Montgomery, with the most intense activity occurring overnight into Monday.
Atlanta can expect a high UV index of 7 on this sunny Sunday, with a burn time of around 20 minutes. For Monday, the UV index escalates to a very high 9, where sunburn can occur in just 15 minutes.
