Meteorologist Amy Freeze here with your Southeast Forecast update for the evening. Partly cloudy skies are set to complete your Miami evening, while a stormy front from Shreveport approaches Jackson. New Orleans remains dry for now, but don’t be fooled – changes are coming. With detailed temperature rundowns and what to expect tomorrow, stay informed and prepared.
A series of storms is making its way from Shreveport towards Jackson with heavy rain and the potential for thunderstorms. This band of precipitation is tracking to the northeast, expect to see these conditions extending into Memphis soon. Farther south, New Orleans remains relatively dry for now, although clouds are likely increasing. In Georgia, areas like Atlanta are witnessing a buildup of clouds ahead of the rain moving in. Coastal cities such as Savannah are still enjoying clear skies, but this won’t last with incoming systems. Meanwhile, Houston and the surrounding areas have light, patchy rain moving through.
This evening in Miami, expect clear skies transitioning to partly cloudy by 10 PM. Temperatures will hover around 75 degrees at 8 PM, slightly cooling to 74 degrees by midnight. Winds will be steady out of the northeast at 9 miles per hour.
Now for the low temperatures tonight, we’re seeing a significant chill across the Southeast. Nashville will dip to 58 degrees, while Memphis is cooler at 63. Shreveport expects a low of 64, and Jackson will settle at 62. Over in Montgomery, prepare for 55 degrees, with Savannah at 55 as well. Atlanta will be a bit cooler at 51, while further south, Jacksonville registers a low of 58. Tampa will experience a mild night at 62. Miami stays warmest in the region at 71 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow across the Southeast are expected to be quite warm, with many areas seeing above-average readings. In New Orleans, the high will reach 81 degrees, while Jackson is set to have a warm day at 83 degrees. Houston will experience a cooler day with a high of 71 degrees. Memphis is on track for a pleasant 82 degrees, and Nashville isn’t far behind at 75 degrees. Heading to Alabama, Montgomery will see a high around 82 degrees, while Atlanta will be slightly cooler at 77 degrees. Farther east, Jacksonville is looking at a warm high of 79 degrees and Savannah will reach 75 degrees. In Florida, Tampa is heating up with a notable high of 87 degrees.
“Expect a strong weather system to impact the Southeast with rainfall and thunderstorms primarily targeting areas from Houston through New Orleans towards Jackson. Heavy rain and isolated severe storms are possible as the cold front advances eastward. By tomorrow morning, rain showers spread into Montgomery and Atlanta, potentially affecting the morning commute. Thunderstorms are expected as far south as Miami by the afternoon. ”
The UV index in Miami is at a very high level of 10 for both Wednesday and Thursday, with direct sun exposure potentially leading to burns in just 12 minutes.
For the 7-day forecast in Miami: Wednesday: Mostly clear with a high of 81 degrees and a low of 71. Thursday: Another mostly clear day with highs around 80 degrees and lows at 71. Friday: Expect partly cloudy skies, with temperatures reaching a high of 78 degrees and a low of 72. Saturday: Look for scattered thunderstorms, with highs hitting 79 degrees and lows at 73. Sunday: More scattered thunderstorms anticipated, with temperatures maxing out at 79 degrees and a low of 72. Monday: Isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast, with a high of 82 degrees and a low of 71. Tuesday: Wrapping up with mostly clear skies, temperatures will reach a high of 83 degrees and a low of 73. Enjoy the week ahead and stay prepared for those potential storms!
