A glance at the regional radar for the Southern Plains today reveals a cascade of weather activities. Starting in the north, Oklahoma City stays mostly dry under partly cloudy skies. Meanwhile, farther to the east, Little Rock is witnessing isolated thunderstorms inching closer while Jackson experiences a broader line of heavier rain and storms, gradually progressing eastward. In Texas, a band of rain stretches from the Dallas area extending southward towards San Antonio, promoting wet conditions. El Paso remains dry for now, but to the south, rain showers are making their way toward Corpus Christi, bringing needed moisture. As we move further up into Kansas City, the weather remains more settled with no significant precipitation, while New Orleans enjoys a break from the rain, remaining clear for most of the day.
For this evening in Austin, anticipate an active weather pattern with thunderstorms likely at 8 PM as temperatures hover around 69 degrees. Gusty southeast winds at 6 mph contribute to the electric atmosphere. By 10 PM, temperatures dip slightly to 67 degrees with rain and southeast winds maintaining at 6 mph. As midnight approaches, expect the rain to persist with temperatures settling at 66 degrees and the southeast breeze calming to 5 mph.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, we’re looking at a significant drop in temperatures. Oklahoma City will chill down to 34 degrees, while Dallas expects a low of 38. In Texas, San Antonio will rest at 42 degrees, and El Paso will see a low of 54. Further north in Midland, temperatures will dip to 56 degrees.
