Thunderstorms from Missouri to Little Rock, clear skies in Oklahoma City, and potential rains approaching Dallas mark a dynamic meteorological phase. Across the Southern Plains, the regional radar indicates a dynamic weather shift. Thunderstorms are making their way from western Missouri, heading toward areas surrounding Little Rock. Kansas City is witnessing rainfall as these showers continue to sweep northeast, eventually affecting St. Louis. Meanwhile, skies are starting to clear farther south in Oklahoma City, as most of the thunderstorm activity is moving eastwards. Dallas is enjoying dry conditions for now, but a line of showers is slowly approaching from the northwest, moving toward the vicinity of Midland and El Paso, which are still experiencing dry weather. In the southeast, New Orleans is currently clear, but showers stretching from the northern Mississippi region might influence the weather soon.
Cloudy conditions kick off the morning in Austin with temperatures at 73 degrees by 7 a.m., accompanied by a light southeast wind at 6 miles per hour. As we move toward 9 a.m., scattered thunderstorms are expected, holding steady at 73 degrees, with winds maintaining a light 6 miles per hour from the south. By 11 a.m., the skies remain cloudy with temperatures climbing to 76 degrees, and the light winds continue.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southern Plains are looking quite moderate, with most areas falling within seasonal ranges. In Texas, San Antonio is set for a warm high of 89 degrees, while nearby Corpus Christi will be slightly cooler at 88 degrees. Midland is expected to reach 73 degrees, presenting a mild day. Over in El Paso, afternoon temperatures will hit 66 degrees. Moving east, New Orleans is forecasted for 85 degrees, and Jackson will be noticeably warmer at 88 degrees. Dallas can expect a high of 65 degrees, while Oklahoma City will see temperatures around 61 degrees. Further north, Kansas City is looking at a cool 62-degree high.
On the futurecast for the Southern Plains, anticipate a busy weather day. A strong line of thunderstorms is expected to track from Oklahoma City to Little Rock, with potential for heavy rain and damaging winds. Be aware of possible severe weather warnings in these areas. In Texas, showers extend from Dallas to San Antonio, delivering beneficial moisture but stay alert for localized flooding. As the day progresses, the cold front pushes farther southeast towards Jackson, Mississippi, with thunderstorms reaching New Orleans by evening. Temperature fluctuations and shifting weather patterns will require attention over the next 24 to 48 hours.
The UV index in Austin will be high at 7 today, Wednesday, with a burn time of about 20 minutes in direct sunlight. As clouds and possible storms move in on Thursday, the UV index will lower to 6.
Thursday: Cloudy skies with a warm high of 84 degrees, cooling to 71 at night. Friday: Thunderstorms make an appearance in the evening with temperatures reaching 83 degrees during the day, dropping to 60 overnight. Saturday: More thunderstorms expected, with a high of 67 degrees and a cooler low of 45. Sunday: Partly cloudy with highs around 58 degrees, and a chilly low of 41. Monday: Mostly clear conditions as temperatures rise to a pleasant 71 degrees and fall to 43 at night. Tuesday: Crystal clear skies accompany a high of 75 degrees, cooling to 49 at night. Wednesday: Clear and sunny, warming up to 79 degrees during the day and 53 at night.
