Across the Southern Plains, the regional radar is showing some active weather patterns today. A band of heavy rain and thunderstorms is currently affecting areas near Jackson, Mississippi, moving eastward with intensity. This system is extending its reach toward New Orleans, where more rain is developing. As you look farther west, conditions are much quieter. Areas such as San Antonio and Corpus Christi are experiencing clear and dry weather, while skies over Midland and El Paso remain largely sunny. The Oklahoma City area is also enjoying calm conditions, with no significant weather activity at present.
For this evening in Austin, anticipate clear skies with temperatures beginning at 80 degrees at 8 PM. As the night progresses, temperatures will decrease to 73 degrees by 10 PM and continue to drop to 69 degrees by midnight. Winds are expected to be light from the east at 3 miles per hour before calming down entirely later in the night.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, temperatures are set to drop significantly. Oklahoma City will see a low of 36 degrees, while Dallas is expected to cool down to 40. In Texas, Midland will also experience a low of 60 degrees, which is quite a dip from the previous nights. Further south, San Antonio will rest at 64 degrees, and Corpus Christi will sit at a balmy 67. Over in New Mexico, Albuquerque is forecasted for a chilly 48 degrees.
Highs for the Southern Plains region tomorrow will be notably warm, setting the stage for above-average temperatures. In El Paso, look for a high of 86 degrees, while Midland is expected to reach a sizzling 90 degrees. San Antonio will also see well-above normal readings, climbing to 92 degrees. Corpus Christi will enjoy a high of 82 degrees. In contrast, Dallas will be slightly cooler, managing 85 degrees. Oklahoma City checks in at 84 degrees, and Little Rock reaches 85 degrees.
