This week in Austin, skies remain clear, setting up perfect conditions for outdoor activities. Meanwhile, the picture isn’t as dry in Albuquerque and Kansas City where rain showers are refreshing the landscape. On the Regional Radar, we’re seeing mostly clear conditions across the Southern Plains, but not without some interesting weather events. In New Mexico, particularly near Albuquerque, scattered rain showers are dotting the landscape, providing some refreshing moisture. In eastern Texas, from El Paso to Midland, conditions remain dry, presenting no immediate weather disruptions. The atmosphere starts to get a bit more active as we head eastward, with Oklahoma City enjoying dry conditions, but areas to the northeast, including Kansas City, are experiencing some rain activity. Down south in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, the skies are clear, with New Orleans also avoiding any weather-related woes for now.
The afternoon in Austin brings clear skies with temperatures peaking at 91 degrees around 6 PM before cooling slightly to 88 degrees by 8 PM. Enjoy a consistent southeast breeze at 7 miles per hour throughout the afternoon with sunshine.
This afternoon in the Southern Plains, temperatures are heating up. In El Paso, you can expect a high of 88 degrees, while Midland is a bit cooler today with a high of 81. Northern regions will see the highs in the lower 80s; for instance, Dallas hits 88 degrees, while Little Rock is at a comfortable 81. Down in San Antonio, it’s a hot one with a high reaching 95 degrees. To the east, New Orleans warms up to 81 degrees and Jackson is slightly warmer at 84 degrees.
Tonight in Oklahoma City, expect a low of 46 degrees, while nearby Tulsa will be slightly cooler at 44. Dallas is forecasting a low of 55, a notable drop from the past few nights. In the Lone Star State, San Antonio will see a low of 63, but farther south in Corpus Christi, temperatures will remain warmer at 68 degrees. Little Rock will also be chilly, reaching a low of 46. Meanwhile, up in Midland, the forecast shows a low of 59.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow are looking quite pleasant, with an overall seasonal trend. In El Paso, expect a comfortable high of 84 degrees. Midland is slightly warmer, reaching up to 86 degrees, which is above average for this time of year. San Antonio will enjoy a similar warmth with highs around 82 degrees. In Corpus Christi, temperatures will hit 79 degrees, providing a nice coastal breeze. Temperatures are a bit cooler in Dallas, with highs only reaching 77 degrees, and Kansas City will see a mild afternoon at 68 degrees.
Looking ahead on the futurecast for the Southern Plains, expect a dynamic weather day with varying conditions. Rain showers will primarily affect areas from Dallas to Corpus Christi, providing much-needed moisture. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City could see stronger storms. With such an unstable air mass and an approaching cold front, be on the alert for severe weather warnings in the southeast through Wednesday night.
