However, the bigger picture includes scattered showers and high temperatures across the plains. Across the Southern Plains, the weather is mostly clear, but we’re seeing some activity scattered across the region. Showers are moving through the New Orleans area and stretching into the Gulf. In western Texas, near Midland and El Paso, isolated showers are developing but the overall conditions remain relatively tranquil. Oklahoma City and Dallas remain clear and dry at this time. To the north, brief light rain showers are brushing the corner of Kansas.
For this evening in Austin, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures decreasing from 87 degrees at 9 PM to 82 degrees by 11 PM. Winds will shift from the east at 6 miles per hour, slowing to 4 miles per hour later. By 1 AM, skies will clear with temperatures around 78 degrees, accompanied by a southeast wind of 4 miles per hour.
Tonight expect lows of 57 degrees in Albuquerque and 60 in Oklahoma City. Little Rock will see a chilly 59, while Jackson drops to 64. Dallas is forecasted to end the day at 67 degrees, remaining relatively mild but still cooler than recent temperatures. San Antonio will be the warmest at 74.
The high temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow are shaping up to be quite toasty. El Paso is expected to reach a sizzling 100 degrees, while Midland is not far behind at 98 degrees. San Antonio will see highs around 89 degrees, and Corpus Christi will enjoy a warm 89 as well. Dallas will be a bit cooler, with highs around 89 degrees.
Scattered rain showers initiate overnight across the Central and Southern Plains, extending from Dallas to Corpus Christi, bringing essential precipitation. Oklahoma City may experience severe thunderstorms as instability peaks with a cold front advancing westward. By late Wednesday, potential for severe weather increases in northern Texas and southern Oklahoma, including risks of damaging winds and hail. The frontal passage will lead to a temperature drop, offering cooler but drier conditions into Thursday.
The UV index in Austin is extremely high at 11 for Wednesday and Thursday, resulting in a potential burn time of just 11 minutes in direct sunlight.

Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms are possible, with a high of 97 degrees and a low of 75. Monday: Expect more scattered thunderstorms, a bit cooler with highs around 86 degrees and a low of 70. Tuesday: Partly cloudy with temperatures reaching 84 degrees during the day and cooling down to 67 at night.
