Showers and thunderstorms starting to develop in the mid to lower Mississippi Delta, impacting areas near Jackson. Little Rock remains clear for now, but cloud cover could increase as the day progresses. The rest of the region, including Dallas and Oklahoma City, enjoys calm and dry conditions, although cloud cover is creeping up. El Paso and Midland are basking in sunshine with no immediate threats of precipitation.
Austin this afternoon will be primarily sunny with temperatures soaring to 92 degrees by 6 PM. Anticipate a light breeze coming from the east at around 4 to 6 miles per hour. Cloud cover will gradually increase to partly cloudy by 6 PM and mostly cloudy by 8 PM.
Today’s regional high temperatures in the Southern Plains are climbing significantly. In El Paso, expect a sweltering high of 96 degrees, while Midland matches that temperature. San Antonio also reaches 96, indicating a trend of warmth across Texas. Dallas will see a slightly cooler high of 89 degrees, as Little Rock follows suit with the same temperature. Over in Jackson, conditions are mild with a high of 86 degrees, while in New Orleans, temperatures will be comfortable at 82 degrees.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, Oklahoma City is expected to see a low of 59 degrees, while Little Rock cools down to 57. Dallas will settle at 67 degrees, and Midland will be slightly warmer at 71. Expect temperatures to dip to 64 degrees in Jackson, making for a brisk night ahead. San Antonio will remain milder at 74 degrees, but a notable cold front will push cooler air across the state.
Tomorrow El Paso is expected to hit a sizzling 100 degrees, while Midland reaches 89 degrees. San Antonio will warm up to 98 degrees, and Corpus Christi is also looking at a warm high of 89 degrees. Meanwhile, Dallas sees a cooler high of 78 degrees, which is relatively mild for this time of year.
A strong cold front brings scattered storms from Dallas to Oklahoma City. Intense rainfall could result in flash flooding in low-lying areas, so stay alert for flood warnings. Gusty winds and isolated severe storms are also possible, particularly near Little Rock and Jackson, where the instability is highest. Temperatures will drop significantly behind the front, leading to cooler, drier conditions for Thursday. Heavy cloud cover may linger, especially in areas like Corpus Christi and San Antonio, moderating temperature changes.
