In the Southern Plains, we’re seeing quite the weather show today! On the radar, storm systems are pushing through the southern parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. New Orleans is seeing heavy rain and possibly some thunder. Meanwhile, Jackson is wrapped in a band of moderate precipitation moving eastward, heading closer to the Alabama border.
For regions a bit farther north, skies clear as we get into Arkansas, including Little Rock, which is enjoying nice, fair weather. Rolling over to Texas, cities like Dallas and San Antonio are having a dry spell under mostly clear conditions. Meanwhile, El Paso and further west towards Midland are also keeping things dry, with no significant precipitation showing up on the radar.
Across the Southern Plains, snowfall is absent, leaving areas like Oklahoma City and further north to Kansas City under clear skies today. It’s a calm forecast for the plains, perfect for getting out and about.
For this evening in Austin, expect clear skies with temperatures gradually cooling down from 71 degrees at 8 PM to 62 degrees by midnight. Winds will be light, shifting from a northeast breeze at 4 miles per hour to calm conditions as the night progresses. A peaceful evening perfect for a relaxing outdoor stroll or enjoying the night sky.
Tonight, the Southern Plains will see a significant drop in temperatures as a cold front moves through. In Amarillo, expect a low of 35 degrees, while Lubbock will dip to 37. In Oklahoma City, temperatures will fall to 40 degrees. The capital, Austin, has an anticipated low of 48. San Antonio will stay slightly warmer at 52 degrees, while in Dallas, residents should prepare for a chilly 44 degrees. Farther south in Corpus Christi, the temperature will settle around 60. Overall, it’s a brisk night ahead with notable chills across the region.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow are looking quite favorable. In El Paso, expect a warm high of 82 degrees. Midland is set to soar to a sizzling 90 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. In San Antonio, the temperature will rise to 84 degrees, while Corpus Christi will see a pleasant high of 82 degrees.
Moving northeast, Dallas is forecasted to reach 78 degrees, which is right on the seasonal mark. Little Rock also mirrors this with a high of 77 degrees. Kansas City, however, will be cooler at 65 degrees, reflecting a more moderate air mass.
Overall, most areas are experiencing above-average temperatures, with warm winds flowing in from the southwest, contributing to this unseasonably warm forecast.
