A strong line of storms is sweeping through the Southern Plains, with severe weather stretching from Little Rock towards Oklahoma City. This storm line is producing heavy rainfall and potential severe weather conditions as it progresses eastward. In the Central Plains, Kansas City is experiencing moderate showers with cloudy skies, and rain is also heading toward eastern regions. In contrast, snow is falling in the higher elevations of New Mexico and along the Texas Panhandle, with significant snowfall spreading northeast toward Oklahoma. Amidst these conditions, cities farther south like San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and El Paso are enjoying mostly clear skies with no precipitation.
For this evening in Austin, expect mostly cloudy skies transitioning to cloudy as the night progresses. Temperatures will steadily decrease, starting at 55 degrees at 8 PM, dipping to 50 degrees by 10 PM, and reaching 48 degrees by midnight. Winds will be coming from the north-northwest at around 13 miles per hour, slightly easing to 12 miles per hour later in the evening.
Now for the low temperatures, Oklahoma City is expecting a low of 32 degrees, while Dallas will see a bite in the air at 37. In North Texas, the mercury will drop to 36 in Midland. Farther south, San Antonio is forecasted to cool down to 41 degrees. El Paso won’t escape the cold either, with a low of 39 expected.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains region tomorrow will showcase a mix of mild to warm conditions. El Paso is expected to reach 59 degrees, slightly below the seasonal average. Midland will warm up to a nicely above-average high of 85 degrees. In San Antonio, expect a pleasant 81 degrees, while Corpus Christi will hit 79 degrees. Dallas can anticipate a cooler 67 degrees, and Kansas City will see a high of 55 degrees.
For the Southern Plains tomorrow, prepare for a mixed bag of weather. Rain showers are expected from Dallas to Corpus Christi, which will offer some relief to dry conditions. Oklahoma City, however, faces the potential for more severe storms as an unstable air mass interacts with an advancing cold front. Expect significant precipitation, which brings a risk of localized flooding through Wednesday night. Farther east, Little Rock to Jackson should brace for strong thunderstorms that may disrupt the morning commute.
The UV index in Austin is set to be quite active this weekend.
