Across the Southern Plains, the regional radar reveals an active weather pattern. A band of rain showers is progressing across the eastern portions of Texas, stretching from San Antonio to Little Rock. The heaviest rainfall is targeting areas around Jackson, with thunderstorms over New Orleans indicating a well-developed storm system moving through. Meanwhile, locations like Midland and El Paso are enjoying relatively clear skies, while the Texas Panhandle remains mostly dry. Albuquerque, in contrast, is under some scattered rain showers. Along the southern Colorado border, snow is present, bringing elevated winter conditions to the higher terrains.

For this evening in Austin, the temperature starts at a warm 80 degrees at 8 PM, dropping to 75 degrees by 10 PM, and settling at 73 degrees by midnight.

Tonight in the Southern Plains, Oklahoma City will dip to 41 degrees, while Dallas will face a low of 53. Further north, Kansas City is bracing for a chilly night, forecasted at 38 degrees. Midland will be cool at 50 degrees. Moving into Texas, El Paso is set to see a low of 54, and San Antonio will cool down to 69 degrees. Expect a mild low of 70 in Corpus Christi, New Orleans at 71 degrees.

Highs for the Southern Plains tomorrow are shaping up to be well above average for this time of year. In El Paso, expect a pleasant afternoon with temperatures reaching 79 degrees. Midland will see a warm high of 85 degrees, while San Antonio also joins in on the warmth with a high of 85. In Corpus Christi, temperatures are forecasted to hit 82 degrees. Dallas will warm to 84 degrees, and over in Oklahoma City, a more moderate high of 61 is anticipated. The daytime heating cold combine with gulf moisture to fuel storms Sunday.

Looking ahead on the futurecast for the Southern Plains, expect widespread showers and thunderstorms from Albuquerque to Dallas, intensifying along the Gulf Coast, particularly around New Orleans and Jackson. A frontal boundary will bring the potential for severe weather, including heavy rainfall and gusty winds, mainly in the eastern sections. In Oklahoma City, the threat of stronger storms persists, so stay weather-aware. Meanwhile, areas like Corpus Christi will mainly experience overcast skies with the chance of isolated showers. As the system moves east, conditions will gradually improve across Texas, with skies clearing farther west into El Paso by the weekend.

The UV index in Austin will be very high at 9 on Saturday, with a burn time of just 15 minutes. Be sure to apply sunscreen generously and take breaks in the shade. By Sunday, the UV index decreases to a moderate level of 6, with a burn time of about 23 minutes.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with a high of 83 degrees and a nighttime low of 70.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, warming up to 89 degrees during the day and cooling down to 69 at night.
Thursday: Thunderstorms are anticipated, with highs reaching 78 degrees and lows of 65.
Friday: Scattered thunderstorms with a high of 80 degrees and a low around 65.
