Across the Southern Plains, we’re seeing an active weather pattern. A strong line of thunderstorms is currently stretching from Kansas City down to Dallas, moving west to east. Oklahoma City is already experiencing significant rainfall with these storms. Farther south, showers are reaching into the Dallas area, and the systems are making their way toward Little Rock and Jackson. San Antonio and El Paso are enjoying clear skies for now, with no immediate threat of precipitation in these areas. However, clouds are on the increase in Corpus Christi, with rain expected to push in soon. Albuquerque remains dry, but adjacent regions are seeing some scattered, light showers. Keep an eye on the skies, as conditions can change quickly with a robust weather system like this!
Austin’s afternoon features mostly cloudy skies with temperatures holding steady in the mid-80s, reaching up to 86 degrees by 5 PM. Winds are coming from the south at 3 miles per hour, shifting to the southeast and settling around 5 miles per hour later in the day. Expect a bit of sunshine peeking through the clouds, but overall the sky remains mostly covered. As the evening rolls in, the conditions remain consistent with a gentle breeze from the east-southeast at 5 miles per hour.
Let’s take a look at those regional high temperatures in the Southern Plains today. In Dallas, we’re looking at a warm high of 81 degrees, while the heat intensifies in San Antonio with a steamy 90 degrees. Over in Corpus Christi, the temperatures are close behind at 89 degrees. Midland sees a pleasant 77 degrees, making it more mild for those outdoor activities. As we move north, Oklahoma City is experiencing a cooler 74 degrees, contrasting with the warmth in southern areas. El Paso is also on the cooler side, reaching only 69 degrees today. Little Rock hits 79, adding to a variety of temperatures across the region.
In Oklahoma City, expect a low of just 49 degrees, which is on the cooler side for this time of year. Dallas will dip to a chilly 60 degrees, while Fort Worth is not far behind at 59. Heading into Texas, San Antonio will have a relatively warmer low of 73 degrees, but that’s still cooler than previous nights. In contrast, El Paso will see a low of 48 degrees, bringing in the colder air from the north. Moving eastward, Little Rock will rest at 59 degrees, and Jackson is expected to cool down to 73 degrees. New Orleans is slightly warmer at 74 degrees, but will still feel the effects of the cooler trend sweeping across the region.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow will be quite above average, signaling unseasonably warm weather across the region. In El Paso, the high will reach 74 degrees, while Midland is expected to soar to 85 degrees. San Antonio will enjoy a warm 81 degrees and Corpus Christi anticipates a high of 79 degrees. Dallas, however, will be slightly cooler with a high of 67 degrees, and Kansas City is forecasted to reach only 61 degrees. A warm front is contributing to these higher temperatures, bringing in warm, dry air from the south, setting the stage for comfortable and pleasant conditions throughout the region.
