A line of severe storms is making its way across Texas, extending from just outside Midland towards Oklahoma City. The radar shows this storm system is bringing heavy rain and potential severe weather to Dallas, creating a wet commute. To the west, Albuquerque sees snow at higher elevations, and some mixed precipitation follows through the surrounding areas as the system pushes eastward. El Paso and San Antonio are experiencing scattered rain showers, while the Lower Mississippi and New Orleans show moderate showers moving northeastward. Corpus Christi and farther south along the Texas coast remain clear for now.
As we move into the evening hours in Austin, expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures beginning at 79 degrees at 9 PM and a light northeasterly breeze at 3 mph. By 11 PM, the skies clear further, and temperatures dip to 74 degrees with calm wind conditions. As the night progresses to 1 AM, partly cloudy skies will develop with temperatures settling around 70 degrees.
Now for the low temperatures in the Southern Plains region tonight, Oklahoma City will drop to a cool 54 degrees. Dallas is expecting a low of 61, while Midland will be slightly cooler at 56. El Paso will see a mild low of 58, and San Antonio will stay warmer at 69 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow indicate a warm day ahead. San Antonio is set to hit a high of 88 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Midland will see temperatures reaching 77 degrees, while Dallas is expected to warm up to 78 degrees. In contrast, Kansas City remains cooler with a high of only 67 degrees.
A dynamic weather pattern unfolds over the Southern Plains tomorrow, where rain extends from Dallas to Corpus Christi, offering much-needed relief. Oklahoma City may experience the brunt of stronger storms, with an unstable air mass and a swift-moving cold front raising the potential for severe weather. Areas from Little Rock to New Orleans should remain alert for possible severe weather warnings through the evening. Expect the heaviest rains to impact regions from Jackson to New Orleans, accompanied by gusty winds. By evening, conditions will begin to settle, with cooler and clearer weather moving in.
The UV index in Austin is extremely high at 9 both today and Wednesday, indicating a burn time of just 15 minutes. It’s crucial to limit direct sun exposure during midday hours. If you’ll be outside, don’t forget your sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses for protection! Keep an eye on any local storm alerts, especially on Tuesday, as weather conditions can change rapidly.
