On the Regional Radar, thunderstorms are prominently developing around Dallas, pushing southeastward toward the gulf. San Antonio and Corpus Christi are seeing areas of rain with heavy pockets of precipitation moving in from the west. Oklahoma City and Little Rock remain under partly cloudy skies, free of precipitation for now. Farther south, New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are experiencing scattered showers moving northeastward.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin are steady at 80 degrees with a south wind at 6 miles per hour. Thunderstorms are expected to develop into scattered thunderstorms by early evening. By 8 PM, temperatures drop slightly to 78 degrees with isolated thunderstorms still possible.
This afternoon, temperatures soar across the Southern Plains. El Paso is hitting a sizzling 103 degrees, while Midland follows closely with a high of 94. Dallas warms up to 89, and San Antonio is slightly cooler at 84. In contrast, Oklahoma City feels pretty pleasant with a high of 87, while Little Rock reaches 93. Over in New Orleans, expect a high of 92, making it a warm day across the board.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, temperatures will cool down significantly. Dallas is forecasted to drop to 76 degrees, while San Antonio will see a low of 75. Little Rock is expected to reach 75 as well, and Oklahoma City should settle at 71 degrees. Midland will cool off to 72 degrees for a noticeably mild night across the region.
Tomorrow, El Paso will see a sizzling high of 101 degrees, while Midland reaches 91. San Antonio is expected to warm up to 89 degrees, closely followed by Corpus Christi at 91. Dallas will also be warm, hitting a high of 91 degrees. On the eastern side of the Southern Plains, Jackson and Little Rock will experience above-average temperatures of 94 and 92 degrees, respectively, as high pressure influences the region.
The Southern Plains will experience dynamic weather, with rain moving from Dallas to Corpus Christi, offering welcomed relief. Oklahoma City is in line for stronger storms, and an approaching cold front increases the risk of severe weather alerts from Texas to Arkansas. Expect heavy rainfall and potential flooding in areas already rain-soaked. By Saturday night, scattered thunderstorms will extend from Midland to New Orleans, bringing gusty winds and possible hail.
