The Southern Plains show scattered rain showers, particularly evident in eastern Texas and into Louisiana, creating a moist scene from Dallas extending eastward to Shreveport. Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas remain dry under clearer skies. Clouds are thickening near Little Rock, with precipitation progressing toward Jackson, indicating an unsettled atmosphere in the Mississippi Delta. A stretch of dry conditions persists from El Paso stretching across to San Antonio, despite a few cloud patches. Kansas City enjoys a break from precipitation, maintaining clear skies.
Afternoon in Austin brings partly cloudy skies with temperatures rising to 90 degrees by 4 PM. Winds are from the south at 6 mph, shifting slightly to SSE at 7 mph by 6 PM as conditions become mostly cloudy. Later in the evening, the temperature drops to 80 degrees by 8 PM with scattered thunderstorms expected.
Across the Southern Plains today, we’re seeing some warm temperatures. El Paso tops the charts at a sizzling 86 degrees, while Midland follows closely behind at 92. In San Antonio, you can expect a pleasant high of 91 degrees. Dallas will reach 84, and Corpus Christi is slightly cooler at 85. Little Rock is experiencing a warm day at 82 degrees, but farther east in Jackson, highs will hit around 80. These temperatures illustrate a noticeable warmth across the region, especially in Texas, which is a few degrees above the average for this time of year.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, we’re seeing a significant drop in temperatures. Dallas will cool down to 55 degrees, while Midland expects a low of 50. El Paso will be slightly warmer at 56 degrees. Expect temperatures to dip even lower in Oklahoma City, reaching 47 degrees, and Albuquerque is forecasted to drop to 47 as well. Little Rock will have a mild low of 57 degrees, while San Antonio remains warmer at 63 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southern Plains are on the upward trend, indicating a pleasant day ahead. El Paso will reach a high of 82 degrees, while Midland is slightly cooler at 68. San Antonio warms up to a warm 85 degrees, and Corpus Christi follows closely with a high of 86. Dallas is set for a comfortable 70 degrees, while Oklahoma City will see a high of 71.
An active weather day is anticipated across the Southern Plains with a cold front pushing through. Thunderstorms are expected from Dallas to Oklahoma City with possible severe weather, including damaging winds and hail. Rain will extend towards Corpus Christi, bringing much-needed relief to dry conditions. As the front progresses, there’s potential for significant rainfall across Arkansas and northern Louisiana. Cooler temperatures will follow the frontal passage, settling in by Thursday evening.
