Across the Southern Plains, the regional radar shows calm conditions with some activity. Snow is seen along the southern Colorado border, impacting higher elevations. Gusty winds could accompany this winter weather, reaching up to 75 miles per hour in the mountain passes. In the Oklahoma Panhandle, rain showers are moving through, while the lower Mississippi Delta is seeing the development of rain as a storm system gathers strength. Meanwhile, areas like Albuquerque, Midland, and San Antonio remain dry and clear.
This afternoon in Austin, temperatures soar, reaching 91 degrees by 3 PM and climbing to a peak of 92 degrees by 5 PM. Sunny conditions dominate the early afternoon with a slight SSE wind at 5 miles per hour. As we move towards the evening, expect partly cloudy skies, with temperatures easing to 88 degrees by 7 PM and winds shifting slightly to the SE.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Southern Plains.
In Texas, we’re seeing plenty of warmth, with San Antonio heating up to a sultry 92 degrees. Midland comes in closely behind at 89 degrees, while Dallas reaches a hot high of 90 degrees. Further north in Oklahoma City, temperatures are a bit more moderate with a high of 82 degrees.
Meanwhile, over in El Paso, we’re at a comfortable 86 degrees. Little Rock registers at a pleasant 83 degrees, making for a lovely day in Arkansas.
Now for the low temperatures, the Southern Plains are getting ready for a drop in temperatures overnight. Dallas will see a low of 61 degrees, while Midland is expected to cool down to 61 as well. In El Paso, temperatures will reach the low of 57. San Antonio is on track for a low of 63. Over in Little Rock, expect a bit cooler night with 53 degrees, and Jackson will settle at 55.
High temperatures for the Southern Plains tomorrow are trending warmer than average, influenced by a ridge of high pressure settling in over the region.
In El Paso, expect a pleasant high of 83 degrees. Midland will be even toastier, reaching 84 degrees. San Antonio is forecasted to hit a warm 81 degrees, while Corpus Christi will see a high around 78 degrees.
Dallas will experience a milder day with temps peaking at 80 degrees, and Oklahoma City isn’t far behind, expecting a high of 75 degrees. In Little Rock, temperatures will climb to 79 degrees.
