The Southwest is witnessing a mix of clear conditions and isolated precipitation. Salt Lake City has active mixed precipitation. Cedar City may encounter overcast skies with nearby rain. The skies over Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Southern California, including Los Angeles and San Diego, show mostly dry conditions. Light rain is potentially developing near the northern California coast, around Redding.
For the afternoon in Phoenix, expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures rising from 85 degrees at 3 PM to 89 degrees by 7 PM. Winds will be light, shifting from southwest at 4 mph to west at 5 mph.
Today’s high temperatures in the Southwest are quite the mix! Phoenix is heating up with a high of 91 degrees, while Las Vegas isn’t far behind at 87 degrees. In contrast, Flagstaff will see a cooler day with a high of only 66. Over in Southern California, Bakersfield reaches 79 degrees, but coastal areas like San Diego and Los Angeles hover lower at 65.
Tonight Flagstaff dips to a chilly 35 degrees. Las Vegas will see a low of 62, while Phoenix remains mild at 65. Further north, Ely is expected to come in quite cold at 36 degrees. Bakersfield will not be far off, with a low of 51, and San Francisco won’t be much warmer at 50.
High temperatures in the Southwest are trending well above average for this time of year. Phoenix is set to sizzle with a high of 93 degrees, while Las Vegas will experience warm conditions reaching 84 degrees. Los Angeles is on the cooler side at 61 degrees, but still pleasant for late April. San Diego will see a mild high of 63 degrees, making it a comfortable day along the coast. Fresno will warm up to a balmy 69 degrees, contributing to the overall above-normal temperatures across the region.
On the Southwest futurecast, expect sunny skies and dry conditions across most of the desert areas tomorrow. Northern California will experience scattered showers bringing much-needed rain to the valleys. As we move south, the coastal regions of central California should prepare for increasing cloud cover with light showers likely. Pay attention to the transition zones where precipitation line creeps south possibly affecting travel conditions over mountain passes.
