The radar image for the Southwest region illustrates a captivating weather tapestry. In Northern California, showers are sweeping through areas like Redding, offering a refreshing bout of rain. As these showers extend southward, they reach the central valleys around Fresno and Bakersfield, providing much-needed moisture. The Sierra Nevada range has snow gracing the higher elevations, keeping the slopes snowy and picturesque. In Southern California, from Los Angeles to San Diego, it’s a mixed bag of light rain showers, providing just enough drizzle to keep things fresh without major disruption. Las Vegas stays dry under mostly clear skies. Farther east, Flagstaff is gearing up for a light snowfall, Phoenix remains calm and dry.
This evening in Salt Lake City, temperatures will gradually decline from 53 degrees at 8 PM to 47 degrees by midnight. Expect mostly cloudy skies transitioning to partly cloudy conditions as the evening progresses. Winds will be gentle, starting from the west-northwest at 6 miles per hour and shifting to the east-southeast and southeast at around 5 to 7 miles per hour.
Now for the low temperatures in the Southwest. Flagstaff can expect a chilly low of 33 degrees, while Cedar City will see a cool 30. Las Vegas is looking at a comfortable 53 degrees, but Los Angeles will feel a bit cooler at 50 degrees. It’s mild in San Diego with a low of 54, and Fresno rounds it out at 44 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southwest region on Monday are shaping up to be above average, thanks to a warm air mass moving in. In Phoenix, expect a robust high of 84 degrees, significantly warmer than typical for this time of year. Las Vegas will also see a warm day, reaching 77 degrees. Further west, in Los Angeles, temperatures will hit 64 degrees, while Bakersfield warms up to 71 degrees. Heading north, Fresno expects a high of 64 degrees, and San Francisco will cool down to 58 degrees. Salt Lake City sees a high of 58 degrees.
“An active weather pattern is unfolding in the southwest over the next 24 to 48 hours. Expect heavy rainfall and mountain snow impacting northern California, creating challenging travel conditions. For southern California, the San Bernardino Valley will experience consistent showers. It’s a clear reminder to exercise caution on the roads with slick conditions likely.”
The UV index in Salt Lake City is low today, with a value of 2, indicating minimal risk of sunburn under typical conditions, thanks to some cloud cover. However, as we move into Monday, the UV index rises to 4, with a burn time of about 35 minutes in direct sunlight.
