In the Southwest, the regional radar is showing quite a dynamic weather picture. We have rain sweeping in from the Pacific, bringing much-needed moisture to the coastal regions of California. Cities like San Francisco and Fresno are experiencing these showers, providing a refreshing change to the central valleys. Up in the higher elevations, particularly around Reno, it’s snow that’s making its presence felt, contributing to the beautiful winter scenery.
Down in southern Nevada, Las Vegas is in for a mostly dry day, maintaining its typical desert conditions. Over in Flagstaff, there’s a chill in the air with snow showers likely, adding a wintry touch to the high-altitude city.
Farther south, Los Angeles and San Diego are experiencing mild drizzle, with overcast skies keeping temperatures more mild. This means light jackets may be handy. On the eastern side of the region, Salt Lake City has overcast conditions with rain showers potentially making their way in as the evening progresses. Overall, it’s a varied weather scenario across the Southwest with rain, snow, and clouds making their presence known.
Los Angeles enjoys a mild afternoon with temperatures steady at 72 degrees. You’ll notice a gentle breeze from the south-southwest at 7 miles per hour, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Expect mostly cloudy skies as the afternoon progresses, transitioning to partly cloudy conditions by 8 PM.
Let’s take a look at the high temperatures across the Southwest today. In Arizona, Phoenix is hitting a scorching 100 degrees, perfect for those looking for summer-like conditions! Over in Las Vegas, we’re seeing a warm 91 degrees, while Cedar City in Utah stays more mild at 73.
In California, Bakersfield is enjoying a comfortable 84 degrees, and further north, Redding reaches 79. Meanwhile, both Reno and Ely in Nevada report highs of 70 and 72 degrees respectively, creating a nice contrast to the warmer valleys. Las Vegas will be milder at 61, but it is still a significant temperature shift. Flagstaff will dip to 35, and in Phoenix, it’s a comfortable 68 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southwest tomorrow will see a significant warm-up, with many areas experiencing above-average readings.
In Las Vegas, expect a hot 89 degrees, well above seasonal norms. Phoenix will be sizzling with a high of 93 degrees, indicating the onset of warmer weather patterns. Farther west, Bakersfield and Fresno are both anticipated to reach 83 degrees, making for a pleasant, warm afternoon.
